vendetta vrs eve-online

Well, I purchased eve-online, and felt it would be appropriate to do a side-by-side comparision of the two games.

Vendetta is a space-based FPS mmorpg, or mmo-destroy-everyone-n-collect-loot mud

Eve-online is an attempt at making a game like MOO3 mm, and centers around trading and other stuff, has a forced third perspective, and really shitty camera manipulation, compared to good ole fashioned fps

Vendetta is vastly more fun, has a faster learning curve, and is supported under linux and mac (WOOOHOO! consider contacting linuxgamepublishing.com boyz!)

Eve-online has a wealth of possible options that are primarily only half-implemented. Take for instance the blatant commentary in the manual that says you can smuggle. Game developers of the game say its not even implemented yet (but the game is live?)

Vendetta has just a few options (well, ok. 2. :P) but focuses on ease of character usage and getting what its got going for it done, and done right.

Eve-online's "polished" graphics engine is only marginally better than vendetta's current beta graphics engine, which I am confident will improve vastly in the coming months/years. On top of that, Eve-online's graphics engine gives me a notorious headache with all the damn super-bright stars. 8/

Vendetta is a half (if that) implemented beta. Eve-online is just barely, maybe a little better than, half implemented commercial game.

I could go on, but its best not to. End comment? The vendetta beta is more fun, enjoyable, and worth my time than a monthly subscription cost to a 50$ game i paid hard earned cash to buy. 8/ Cant wait till vendetta is finished. 8)

Just a reminder: The Vendetta Test is a beta of Guild's gaming engine, not a beta of their future space flight MMPORG.

I was a Beta tester for Eve and found it "really" difficult to get into. The graphics are OK but the gameplay was horrible (if you can call it Gameplay).

When I started playing Vendetta I was almost immediately drawn on the intuitive flight controls (Eve uses a mouse to fly the ship, eeeeugh!) and natural gaming characteristics of it ie. navigate, fight, trade & conquer. Wonderful!

Needless to say I didn't purchase Eve, but will be more than willing to do so with Vendetta.

That is if us betatesters actually NEED to pay... ^^;

There is a difference between eve and Vendetta...Vendetta is an actual MMORPG...eve is something that tried and failed to be MMORPG.

EVE's problem was that it had an enormously ambitious feature set. They basically wanted to model a society in its totality. They wanted a real dynamic economy, a player centered economy, player centered manufacturing, an interactive and pervasive legal system, and massively custimizable do-it-yourself government system. They basically promised the community everything would be possible, but the job was so enormous that they were still years from finishing at the time it was released. And they spent so much time on features like the corporations which from experience I knew would only appeal to a small segment of the customer base that broader appeal aspects of game play went unrealized.

I think eve spent too much time on the idea of 'massive' in MMORPG and on the idea of playing as a community, and never actually developed much to intrigue the single player. The mining sounds nice, but I'm not about to pay for a mining simulation.
