Just pledged. Best of luck.

If/when you do another kickstarter, set the base goal as what it would cost for one or two significant improvements and stretch goals add more elements of 1.9. Example (random numbers and improvements):

$20k - Basic Goal - Faction Redux, Improved Deneb/RTS in Deneb

$40k - Stretch 2 - General Graphics Improvements, New Ship Models, New Music

[...]

$100k - Stretch ## - Full VO 1.9 + iPad support

etc, etc

I appreciate the notion of smaller goals, but we aren't likely to get any press coverage from the kind of minor internal gameplay changes you mention, nor are we likely to raise interest or pledges from the outside world.

Anyway, I have no idea if/when a "future Kickstarter" might happen, and it'd be better suited to another thread on Suggestions at some point, rather than this one.

Fair enough. I'll bring it up again once people start pushing for another run.

This probably deserves its own thread, but my vote is for a micro crowd-funding option on the VO site.

Have multiple projects as such:

Faction Redux [Donate]
Currently: $3.172
Goal: $10,000
Detais details details details details etc.

Capital Ship Shields [Donate]
Currently: $5
Goal: $5,000
Detais details details details details etc.

Grey Player Names [Donate]
Currently: $157,124
Goal: $140,000
Detais details details details details etc.

Etc...

No time limits, people contribute, and when it reaches the goal, GS begins working on the project. We've demonstrated we will put our time and money behind this game. Maybe not to the $100k in 30 day level....but if we're going to do smaller goals, in house is the way to go.

yeah what savet said was what I meant.

and even though I would donate to both grey names and capital shields, your example figures are delusional. LOL

LOL that was deliberate.

intentionally delusional? :P

The Kickstarter was awesome, it showed that we have 563 people who (in addition to probably paying the $9.99 monthly fee) are interested enough in this game to actually invest in it - to the tune of $57,366.00 That's an average of $101 per person, which is odd because that's exactly what I ended up pledging. Hm.

I'm glad that John poured so much effort into it with the movies and the Reddit AMA cross-promotion and the linking in of the whole Steam Greenlight effort, which is also a great idea. The kickstarter wasn't funded, which is admittedly disappointing, but the $100,000 goal figure was surprising to me since it seemed so ambitious when I first saw it. I'm inspired by the fact that Guild could raise almost $60 grand with a kickstarter campaign, and I'm looking forward to VO 1.9 regardless.

I'll leave this thread with one of my favorite quotes from one of my favorite historical figures:

"Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure... than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much, because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat."

Thanks man, I appreciate it. The $100k target was honest; I roughly figured I might get ~$70k of "real" money out of that, and added to our own funds was what was needed for the timeline required. I figured if I gave a smaller goal and was honest about it, the goal probably wouldn't interest enough people; and I wasn't comfortable being too "optimistic" about what I could do with X amount of funds.

A lot of good did come out of it, and it was truly incredible and cool to see so many people come out and pledge so much.

I'm honestly a bit worn out and glad it's over, and now just going to try and focus everything I can on the iPad and short-term targets. You guys should see a whole bunch of changes in the near future. It may not all be the most thrilling (graphics, early-game and tutorial changes, etc), but it's all intended to help bring more pilots to our galaxy.

Here is another good kickstarter, not related to vendetta in particular but I could see how this could be cool to use with vo android for sure

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/xopad/xopad-an-open-source-usb-gamepad-for-android-smart

The question is will there be enough promotion and traffic to their kickstarter to hit their goals

They appear to have lower exposure then VO and if there is any correlation to exposer in generall, then it appears to show in the number of backers they are showing.

VO kickstarter was very positive in general regardless funding target not being hit

Getting ready to test how it plays on android phone dual core cheapo pantech P9070 which is why I was wondering about the android game controllers

Anyhow interesting gadget and would be cool for vo

There's a whole mess of game controllers for phones these days.
