Left-Handed Layout

Oct 17, 2014 Yellowdog link
Is there a standard Keyboard Layout mapping for left-handed playing as there is for right-handed?

Sorry if this question has been answered, didn't seem to find it during my searches.

Thanks in advance.

Your best scenario is to rebind keys that correspond to your most comfortable hand-at-rest position.

Such as, QWERASDF rebound to UIOPJKL; . Within just that key change you'll have to rebind Sector List, Zoom, expanded cargo view, Jettison, and Character Info. Also, you can rebind the movement layout anyway you wish as others have done to find a more fluid control experience in their flight style.

Erm... humble question: Is there a left handed keyboard, where (deleted: every key) (inserted: the keymap) is mirrored? This way it wouldn't be necessary to remap everything but left handed fellows could use all as usual.

Thanks. I was figuring I had to remap the keys, but as Surbius noted, once I start, I have to basically re-map everything. I was hoping some poor fool had already done this and posted what they mapped everything to. Looks like I'm that poor fool....

I'm that poor fool.

I use the arrow keys for strafe left/right and accelerate forward/reverse.
Strafe vertically with home/end.
Roll left/right with delete/page down.
Turbo with 0 on the number pad.
Control key is select target in front.

It's quite nice to have the extra space around the arrow keys, number pad, and the misc keys above the arrow keys, (page up/down, home/end/delete). It gives your fingers a place to rest and adds a distinct tactile queue. Welcome sinistral pilot!

Ahh, I think I like that layout. Will re-map next time I'm playing. Thanks..

+1 to Ore.

Cool layout I have already tried it. I will try to add a few more keys around that location, once I figure out where to re-map the keys I want to use.

Once you get a layout that works for you, save a backup copy of the wgaf.conf file so you don't have to re-map everything by hand if the game forgets or a plugin wipes out your settings.
