VO Year in Review - Not So Quick Overview of 2014

Interface
• Music now crossfades when changing sectors
• Killing 3 players within a week within a single faction’s guarded space results in temp KoS for 24 hours for killing non-hated or lower players.
• Connecting dialog text now includes a timeout progressbar
• Player owned capships are always visible on the keyholder’s radar no matter how far away.
• Pressing X+Y on the gamepad in android now displays the gamepad help menu for controls information
• Dialogs with “Do Not Show This Again” checkboxes default to the ok button instead of the checkbox
• Google+ achievements now supported in the Play store and sideloaded clients.
• Fixed PVP veteran 1 achievement for Amazon GameCircle and IOS GameCenter
• Added a “Log Off” button to the mutually exclusive faction choice menu.
• Your character name is now displayed in the faction choice verification menu
• Group health and sector list health now includes shield strength
• Shield strength while manning a player owned turret now shows correct value
• Shields no longer appear to disappear when capship owner mans their own turrets
• CTC convoys report updates on their respective channels (201/202) again.
• Players are notified If they get temp KoS by damaging a conquerable station turret
• Private messages, guild, group, and vote actions no longer reveal the online status of players
• Added guild member login/logoff notifications.
• Removed trailing space at the end of the “Outer Hull Plate” name.
• Ship buy-back-buy-preset no longer swaps empty weapons in storage with newly purchased ones when they are auto-equipped.
• Experimental network quality reporting added (/set nShowNetQualReport 1 to enable)
• Added idle detection captcha to non-premium subscriptions
• Deleted characters no longer listed as access key holders.
• Added new Condensed UI panning feature for Android
• Added touch hover feature to buttons around the edge of the screen for Android
• A “Please wait..” message now appears when showing the mission list for the first time
• Mission info dialog now includes the name and short description
• Fixed a reference to Amazon GameCircle when using Google+ for achievements
• Added macro buttons to virtual keyboard that can be saved by long pressing the action-button
• Fixed touch-hover overlay from being displayed where it shouldn’t be.
• Enabled close button in PDA menu to have touch-hover
• Added a “save password” option to android version
• Small screen devices now use a static background image in station menu to improve UI smoothness.
• Fixed bouncing ‘m’ HUD mission icon location
• Fixed issue where PDA menu appears when pressing jump or jettison all buttons in the PDA in condensed UI mode.
• Increased default font size of 1080p Android phones.
• Optimization and usability improvements for Android and other small screen devices
• Purchasing menu no longer shows mobile free-play accounts are in Trial mode.
• Improved touch drag for scrolling a list on Android devices
• Mission icons are now colored based on their category.
• Chat mode radio buttons have been moved to the right side of Condensed UI mode
• “Press the activate key to leave turret” now persists fully
• The Ship sell menu now only shows local inventory instead of the whole inventory
• Simplified account conversion menu and removed captchas
• Added a new “First Kill” badge for new users
• Improved readability and gamepad usability of some menus on mobile devices
• Increased default font size for high res phones
• The amount of crystal your character has is not shown on Trial accounts and does on PC lite accounts
• Fixed inter-sector loading screen size on mobile devices and clipped sector notes
• The 5 minute Lite warning menu is no longer shown on PCs if you are subscribed as a lite account
• Masked off regions near the HUD touch controls used for touch targeting
• Fixed incorrect Vendetta Online logo size when loading the different offline training simulator sections


Ships & Equipment
• Corvus Greyhound turbo thrust increased from 350 to 450
• Mines now persist for 30 minutes
• Added a drain proximity mine that drains powercells by 250 units when exploded. (Serco station availability only)
• Players can now leave their capship if they have a ship they own in their cargo hold. Capship owners can regain control when they dock again.
• Capships can be given custom names when not docked. Owners will be notified if their ship is under attack when not docked.
• Capship owners can always dock with their ship, even if there is no space available.
• Serco Vulture Guardian turbo drain changed from 56 to 55, top speed increased from 220 to 225
• New Raptor UDV available to UIT, requires high admiration and dislike with both Serco and Itani
• Player owned capships inherit the owner’s keychain so conq stations wont attack the ships when the owner undocks.
• Ships with turrets but aren’t a capship no longer persist
• Radar extender addons now only work if they are equipped as addons rather than just in cargo hold.
• Persistant capships now mirror the player’s weapon addons after logoff
• Player owned capships now have shields that work the sameway as NPC capship shields.
• Trident Type M max shield strength bumped to 40k
• Player owned capship shield repair timer resets to 0 after each hit
• Repair guns no longer damage player owned capship shields.
• Group owners mines will no longer detonate on other group members if the mines were laid before the group was created.
• Mines wont detonate on a group member if they joined while in the proximity of the mine
• Capship shipyard station max cargo limits increased from 50k cu to 150k cu.
• Capship owner’s mines no longer get triggered by their capship
• Capship energy drain now properly persists between NPC and player controlled ships
• Only premium subscriptions can pilot a trident
• New capship turret assets (increasing framerate on mobile devices)
• Fixed incorrect placement of laid mines in relation to the port locations of the ship
• Crystal is earned through experience and achievements for non-premium subscribers
• Corvus Greyhound (and variants) changed from 250 to 190 thrust, armor from 8250 to 7500

Trade & Industry
• Faction standing for foreign nations are capped at +600.
• Increasing standing with Itani will decrease standing with Serco. (if you are +600 serco, than the highest you can be with itani is -600)
• Default standings for UIT in regards to Serco and Itani are 0
• Players can no longer dock to capships with CTC cargo, they must be jettisoned first.
• The capship owner can refill a ship docked within it without that ship having to launch and dock
• Capships can no longer conquer bases by wedging their noses in the docks
• Temp KoS player bug where timer was not in effect when conquering a station fixed.
• CTC cargo gets auto-jettisoned when capship owner leaves their capship and they have CTC cargo in capship hold
Missions & PVE
• Conquerable station turrets no longer fire on access key holders when they leave the sector
• Friendly fire deaths caused by Avalon explosions no longer kick players out of border skirmishes
• Fixed station conquering issue where a player docks just as the last turret is destroyed.
• Training 2’s missions explanation of the No-Fire-Zone has been fixed to say damaged instead of destroyed
PVP
• All systems are now running experimental (new) code to solve the no-hit-registration issues that crop up on pvp battles.

Software
• Linux sandybridge and haswell drivers use full shaders now
• Fixed clipped screen on HTC One devices.
• Added Sony Dualshock 4 support for android and windows
• Faction logos now display properly on ARM Mali devices
• Added a 3 month non-recurring in-app purchase to the Android version, supports Play store gift cards.
• X+Y bind no longer forcefully overwrites custom configurations.
• Fixed rare lua error when capship pilot launches from their own capship
• Fixed Voice chat cross-talk
• Windows store version updated to add gamepad support and fixes for tablet controls to bring in line with PC/Android
• Updated Oculus SDK to reduce drift
• Virtual mouse (when used through a gamepad controller) on mobile devices now highlights the virtual keyboard button that was selected.
• Optimized UI updates while mining asteroids
• Fixed issue where player homed at a conquerable station but respawned to different station.
• Fixed issue where a capship owner who’s ship was destroyed while logged off, got spawned to a station other than their home station.
• When a player logs into a game and they are to be spawned at a station they no longer can dock at, the character is spawned at another station, but their ship remains at the original station.
• Fixed Disconnect error when a passenger is in a capship when it explodes.
• Added more optimizations to combat lag in large battles.
• Added support for Oculus Rift HD
• Oculus Rift no longer required to be in mirror display mode. It autodetects secondary display.
• Fixed crash when exiting early from the offline tutorial and attempting to log in.
• Some asteroids now have higher resolution models for non-mobile clients
• Improved high resolution LOD popping artifacts for asteroids.
• Fixed issue when capship owner launches from capship directly from turret control.
• Left and Right thumb buttons on dualshock 4 controller on android now reported correctly.
• Reduced network traffic for cases where the player is being hit by multiple weapons simultaneously
• Fixed bug where capship persisted beyond 5 min after logoff due to player timing out or having excessive lag while attempting to take control
• Fixed some Java object leaks on android.
• Fixed issue allowing players to in-app purchase an item they can’t equip or use.
• Fixed issues when long pressing the nav menu to add multiple navpoints
• Multi-threaded rendering for linux
• Fixed LUA error when attempting to take a mission that has a countdown timer in the description
• Fixed LUA error when launching from capship gives you an error about grid power is too low.
• Updated OpenSSL library on android version.
• Fixed multi-threaded rendering crashes.
• Fixed LUA crash when swiping station/pda menus
• Fixed crash when attempting to set navroute to a training sector.
• Renamed “Free-Play” to “Offline Play”
• All background textures are now loaded when entering a sector instead of on-demand
• Fixed login crash on Android.
• Introduced “Crystal” for in-game cash currency for free to play mobile players
• Changed default framerate limit to 60fps from 40
• New Snapdragon splash screen for devices that are running Snapdragon gpus
• Fixed potential sector crash when a mine timed out and got damaged at the same time
• Added support for Oculus Rift DK2
• Fixed weapon check hit failures
• Linux OpenGL drivers now use the pbuffer extension for off-screen rendering if available
• Android now automatically retries to download in certain types of failures during installation.
• New Prototype DirectX 11 driver added to the Windows client. Offering dynamic lighting etc effects.

Guild Software
• First mention of upcoming release of New Trident variants, Universe Redux, and dynamic systems and “Smart Objects” made in Mar 09, 2014
• Capship stations, station defense and strike force updates, and updated early missions mentioned upcoming on Oct 11, 2014

Still so much time left in 2014, but frankly I loved reading through this list and seeing all the changes. Thanks for compiling it.
