There's a whole tree of newbie manufacturing missions that start off with simple things like water distillation and steel.

Oh come on. Who would want to manufacture water? Let's give them f2p noobs one or two manufacture missions for weapons.

One possible idea: Give them a mission for manufacturing mega positrons, however it can only be repeated up to 5 times. After they die to bots 5 times, they'll want more of megaposis. An incentive to sub so that they can get more.

I said there's a whole tree. You manufacture a bunch of things then deliver them to various stations. You get to make a mining beam and at the end it lets you produce mineral scanners.

There are many items you can manufacture on a f2p account, including weapons (plural), ships (plural), and other add-ons (plural).

I'm not going to tell you how to get to them. Go forth and discover.

Cool... maybe I'll make a F2p manufacturing mission in the mission editor.

Give them something to manufacture that only f2p can manu. And make that item something that is needed to complete another item that a subbed player wants to make. Thus giving them a trade item veterans will need and can't get on their own.

That's one of the dumbest ideas I heard on here for a while... (1) why on earth punish the people who actually support this game? (2) What would stop a "veteran" from setting up an f2p account to manufacture said widget?

For the OP, I think the whole game should be available to f2p players with the appropriate dose of crystal. I don't care how/when they pay, as long as the pay (and play!)

ships (plural)

Which ships are those, Phaserlight? There's only two ships in the game you can manufacture that I'm aware of: the Centurion Superlight and the Trident Type M. Since the Trident requires access to Behemoth XCs, it can't be made on f2p accounts.

The others I was referring to were the furies. I know, you can't fly them directly.

You can to build a dent without an XC. Ask someone that already has a dent for a lift.
EDIT: I realize that you'd need an XC to lug the Reactor out of the station. Maybe there should be a mission to build an XC.
Where can I get a Furie?

No. Why should non-subscribers be able to manufacture a Trident? We want to fill the devs pockets, not empty them...

And the Furie Mission is unlocked by doing a Mission tree from a Valent station. It starts with "Party Errand", I believe.

Danielturtle, I have two shiny cents to share with you.

The first cent: STOP RESURRECTING GODDAMN DEAD THREADS LIKE AN IDIOT

The second cent: Stop being a poor cheap ass and subscribe already if you want to build a trident. Show the developers some love. They did so much for you already. True love is a two way street.

Corvus Widownakers can be manufactured by f2p and lite accounts.

@ joylessjoker: The thread is only 4 days old. Chill out.

Harpie, oh dear Harpie, I wasn't referring to this thread. Danielturtle has a LONG history of repeatedly resurrecting SIX MONTHS OLD threads. More than 10 times thus far, and the last time he did it was a COUPLE DAYS ago.

My opinion is that it's kind of useless to try and prevent people from performing "necromancy" through admonishment. There is a guard-rail that keeps most from resurrecting threads above a certain age. This doesn't mean that it's a good idea to reply to something that is about to go dead; just that it's even less of a good idea to try and berate people into one's conception of "good action". It ties in to the whole signal-to-noise ratio we've seen Incarnate mention.

The only real "necromancers" here are those in the PCC. This is not to say that being in the PCC is a free pass to go replying to any threads one deems necessary; I believe the reason this feature exists at all is due to the fact that the PCC has many projects that will go for well over the usual time frame without replies. That this carries over into the general forum is... probably unintentional; it doesn't make it a good idea or good etiquette to reply to whatever strikes one's fancy. The same goes for those who are not in the PCC.

To make this absolutely clear, I am not suggesting or condoning "thread necromancy"; simply offering a reminder that there are those who are watching that have the capability to clean things as necessary.

Let's try to stay on topic.

So, you agree that thread necromancy isn't a polite thing to do, phaserlight. Are you saying that Danielturtle is a PCC member? My goodness. I fear for the future of user-created missions.
Feb 09, 2015 ntli link
No, he's saying it's really not your place to berate people. Especially because they may only be doing it to annoy you.
Feb 09, 2015 csgno1 link
And stop hijacking threads joylessjoker, that's just as bad as necromancy.

I am in PCC, I find a hot debate, reply, and forget the date on it. Sorry about that...
Failure/joyless (your are Fail, right?), as for you: Shut it.
