I'm trying to finish a mission and need some information. It's the Research Vessel Defense mission. I took this mission, went to the sector and docked with the ship. I can switch between gun positions and fire the guns. My problem is the drones spawn and gather in areas the guns can't reach.

Is there a way to make the research vessel move so I can shoot the drones? My first attempt I managed to kill one drone but couldn't line any others up with the guns angle of fire and eventually they took out the ship. I haven't tried the mission again because I don't want to just repeat the first try.

How did you guys finish this mission??

Try undocking and shooting at hive bots with your light fighter. If you die over and over, you're not ready for this mission. Yep, some missions are just hard.

So there's no way to move the research ship?

You cannot move the research ship. However, splash weapons are your friend, especially Stingrays. Undock, empty your clip, dock, reload, repeat.

Be careful not to die.

Every Trident in the history of Tridents has this problem. NPCs and players alike immediately move away from where their awfully-placed turrets can aim and just hammer away at them.

I think I beat that one using lightning mines.
