385th Nation War
*reposted with correct number
The 385th Nation War was held Sunday at 2100 GMT in Sedina D-2. The participating teams were Itani and UIT. Serco and Gray teams were noshow. Tridents were banned, and only centaurs were allowed.
Today's prize contained 10,000,000 credits donated by:
[PA]Greenwall
_______________
Greenwall hosted this week due to a lack of interest by anyone else in hosting. The turnout was small, but thrilling nonetheless. The Itani team had overwhelming numbers, but Phaserlight put on a good face made them pay with every blast from his chainfired gatling turrets.
While Greenwall took the first damage from Phaserlight, he soon went off and killed "Brothelia Charandis" for being in violation of the NW rules (being in a Revenant). Niki and Harpo continued to wrangle with Phaserlight in a tense standoff for about 30 seconds. Ultimately Harpo fired the kill shot, leading the Itani to another victory for the history books.
_______________
The participants:
Itani
Niki [Survived]
Harpo [Survived]
Greenwall [Survived]
UIT
Phaserlight
Observers:

_______________
Basic Rules
Only those who are on-time are allowed to participate - be there 2 minutes before the start.
You may not start fighting until the host signals the start of the battle - this includes the 15 minute period prior to the planned starting time.
You may not return to the battle sector after you have left except to observe from a healthy distance in an EC-88 or EC-89.
No running from the asteroid field.
The last team standing wins.

There was a post in the old thread in this location. For continuity's sake, here it is:

Well I'm a noob so sorry, but if you opened the events up a bit more then more noobs would get involved and become long term players and actually keep vo alive.
if you are saying you are "Brothelia Charandis", operationoctopus, then rest assured there will be a NW in the future you can attend in a revenenant. You should have been observing in an EC class ship, as I stated multiple times, and as you can buy for free at any station. Being a newb isn't an excuse for not listening to the stated rules.
The people who are fighting need to be able to immediately know who is and is not a combatant. Requiring observers to use an EC-88 or EC-89 is the easiest way, and serves the dual purpose of minimizing the damage an observer can cause if he decides to interfere.
Noobs are expected to follow the rules of the event like anyone else is.
Edit: lol, missed the part about centaurs only

in this particular nw they could only participate in centaurs
I don't have a centaur, point still stands
Most times only some of the top ships are excluded, this past one was not well attended so the organizer decided to go with a one-ship fight. I'm sure if you told PhaserLite that you did not qualify for a centaur he would have allowed you to bring what you could.
It's up to the event host to come up with the rules. This past week's Nation War host (Greenwall) graciously stepped up to the plate at the last minute when the expected host did not arrive. The Centaur-only rule was a Nation War first as far as I know, and somewhat unexpected, but it's perfectly within the host's means to come up with rules like this.
In short, Nation War 385 was a little unusual, but I would not have tried to override the host's stated rules. If operationoctopus had a problem with the rules, he should have tried working things out with the host. To operationoctopus, I recommend attending the next nation war; I doubt your ship of choice will be excluded then. Killing your ship as you were observing may have been rude, but you were in a combative loadout attending a deadly event in lawless territory.

oops got the host mixed up, apologies.
"I don't have a centaur, point still stands"
So if our rules don't suit you, we should change them so you are accomodated at every turn?
