New anti-pirate guild recruiting

Good luck with your venture. I think there is a void in the game that you could possibly fill.

hello, I would like to join your guild please, let me know of your name requirements so I can make an appropriately named alt, tia.

You should think about resurrecting the greatest anti-pirate guild of all time, [VPR] - that was basically their charter. They were some of the best pilots around and actually gave pirate guilds pause. Well, except for [BLAK]. The existing "pirate" guilds of 2014 are wee babes in comparison, not technically very fearsome or skilled based on what I've seen for the last week.

Now, in order to be an anti-pirate guild you ought to be fairly good in 1v1 PvP, and your group ought to be very good in group v. group PvP. Otherwise you won't be very good at keeping down the pirate menace.

I suggest practicing as a group in Nation Wars, then maybe practice defending the CtC as if it was a player requesting assistance. Then practice holding and defending a sector against pirates.

Once you're good at all those things, then form the guild. If you form the guild before you are the match for the pirates, you risk becoming a laughingstock. And nobody wants yet another "anti-pirate" guild made up of players who don't have the chops to actually be "anti" anything.

I support this 100%. Should not be too hard based on the abilities of the current crop of "pirates."

Slightly off-topic, but what constitutes a well known pirate, and I am wondering how a seasoned player flying a valk can reasonably determine the abilities of pirates who's job is not to pvp randomly against top tier ships but rather to find targets and extort credits or cargo from said targets.

Back on-topic, good luck with your guild. My suggestion is to actually have a self-sustaining model that allows you to hunt pirates and not rely on trade to fund your activities. VPR's problem is that they did not generate any income as a result of their activities, and spent most of their time trading so they could have the resources to hunt pirates, which meant they were really only part-time in their pirate hunting activities....whereas pirates are full-time. You see the problem here.

Care to share the name of the guild that you have planned? The name is very important! If it sounds cool, I might put an alt in hehe.

Another advice: If I learned one thing about VO it is that you need to be active AND efficient to achieve your goals. You'll never build a Trident if you only play once a week. You'll never hit the level requirements for ship X if you only fly around grey space and let vets shoot you down etc.
Same applies for making a guild: You need to be really active and thick skinned. Making guilds in VO is a tedious task (I've already established that in your other, previously opened thread). So be sure you have a LOT of free time available when you really create it.

I miss running over snakes with my loot moths. So you can count me as a pirate who is in support of this.

Darn. I was gonna give him an alt.

Two things:

First, I think we just witnessed the brief return of Mr. "I am not a spam" RABII. How exciting!

Second, I am deeply offended by LeberMac's hateful suggestion that the greatest and oldest trade guild of vendetta online was ever a pirate guild. As commander of [BLAK], I am in a position to unequivocally state that [BLAK] is, and always has been, entirely devoted to avoiding contact with players not in [BLAK] while circlejerking furiously.
Any suggestions of pirate activity on the part of [BLAK], past or present, is a damn dirty revisionist lie.

Huh. Apparently TheGreatestJoe really disliked the idea of me being in support of his guild?

Oh, I bet I know what happened. I bet he didn't get enough people within the 24 hour span, so the game deleted his guild and then he had an existential breakdown and tried to delete all evidence that he'd tried. But I guess he didn't realize that the forum would still attribute his threads to him in the thread listings.

Was TheGreatestJoe called CapShipDriver in game?

Yes.

hmm, not sure how effective a guild purposed to go fight pirates would be when its commander doesn't handle a bit of razzing too well.

It actually gives you 48 hours to make a guild.

The defining factor in the success or failure of an antipirate organisation depends on how they manage their nation identity and their relationships with nationalist military and paramilitary forces. Colour matters, and remember kids, the best colour is red.

Sorry n00b, I forgot about the furious [BLAK] circlejerking.
I'll be sure to keep a HANDLE on that next time.

That's pretty funny, TRS, considering how dead and unresponsive RED is.
