A question regarding The Trident Race
Would there be any interest in me setting up a trident race again now that there hasn't been one in a while?
I'll race.
Yes! Sounds like a great idea, and a good way to bolster community spirit.
Plus the Serco actually might come out and join since they have a distinct advantage: who has more experience running in a trident than the reds of this day and age??

Last time we had Itani and UIT.
ARF, thanks for expressing interest. If two more trident pilots express interest I'll schedule it.

I volunteer Eazy Eddie and A-Dawg.
I further suggest that we make this a PCB only race, with the only offensive weapons being turrets on the trident and a TU mine. The goal would be to slow your opponents' tridents while using the trident turrets to keep leaches off the hull.

That sounds awesome. Great idea! We're in for a frustratingly fantastic race haha
Savet, that would be a cool idea, but how would you enforce it?
Yea I see an enforcement issue there. Lets try my few-rule model again first.
What is unenforceable about it?
It's only as enforceable as any other player-run event. You'll have to rely on the willingness of the players to make the event fun and not attempt to ruin it.
i.e. it's not enforceable because some douchebags see it as their sworn duty to interrupt player (or dev) run events. Hence my suggestion post about a trident race tube sector.
Well as long as it's an all-weapons race that's not really a problem. It's when you put restrictions on the contenders like PCB-only that it becomes easy to disrupt.
i might be in for it aswell. any idea when its happening? i recommend a saturday evening when everyone recovered from working the whole week.
and care to post your rules?
and care to post your rules?
I'll pick a date when some non-tiani trident pilots show interest.
Here are the last set of rules I used. Please let me know if something is not clear...
Trident Rally Rules:
Start: Helios B-14, start judge will be jump-distance from station. No fighting in the start sector. Racers can leave the sector when race official starts the race. You don't need to stay near the start judge after you've checked-in, but you must be visible on the judge's sector list.
Finish: Edras G-11, entering the sector is crossing the finish line. Race official will be in station to record your arrival.
Route. You may not pass through Verasi O-7. A race official will be docked at the station to monitor the sector.
NOTE: The trident pilots are racing, nobody else. Support & escort ships do not need to be in starting or ending sectors, or registered, or identified. Support & escort ships are also not required.
Prize:
1st place gets 60% of the prize credits
2nd place gets 30% of the prize credits
3rd place gets 10% of the prize credits
NOTE: If only 2 finish, the distribution will be 65/35, sole finisher gets it all. In the case that the race runs but there are no finishers, the prize is carried over to the next race. Time limit: Race is over 60 minutes after the start. If a trident finishes in that time, remaining tridents have to the 60 minute mark to finish the course or 15 minutes after the first trident crosses the line, whichever comes later. Judge may extend the 60 minute threshold at his or her discretion if if looks like someone will finish in a reasonable amount of time.

Any UIT and/or Serco trident pilots interested?
