Nation war #416 was hosted on the 29th of March, 2015. The prize was 45 million donated by:

JoAT-baxterthecrafter2.0
ONE-Fraspex
PPT-Faceof
THC-Mistena Kosmel
EMS-Ninjr
VPR-Vivificus
SKV-Sideburns
FAMY-Rin Ganborro

This long-lasting war had a decent turnout and an exciting battle between the UIT, Serco, and this week's winners, the Itani! Bravo to those who fought on the Itani team for their marvelous flying! After a few minutes of pot shots, the serco decided to pop into the fight, after sitting out to let the UIT and Itani play around. One by one the foes fell leading the Itani team to the victor's chair once again!

The Teams:

Itani:
Greenwall (Survived)
Vivificus (Survived)
Ishathis Bessuni (Survived)
Shark (Survived)
Sideburns (Survived)
Niki (Survived)
shar0baro

Serco:
Fraspex
Dirty 'ore
JakP

UIT:
Mistena Kosmel
baxterthecrafter2.0
wolfman40
Electricity
Rin Ganborro

(Please tell me if any of these stats are inaccurate and I'll get it fixed right away!)

Thank you to all the donations and the participants for making this Nation War one to remember! I look forward to seeing whomever shows up next week!

Next week's Nation War:

-No running from the asteroid field.

Orion centurion?

She said "No major nation specific ships". Orion isn't a nation, so yes, the Rev-C should be fine.

When can we have a moth-only and gat-only nation war?
Mar 30, 2015 greenwall link
Well I'm just pointing out that Mistena's ship of choice is not excluded. And when you remove top tier ships, it doesn't make things more fair, it just makes different ships the top tier ships.
Mar 30, 2015 Pizzasgood link
I think she's trying to create a more level playing field by removing nation-specific ships so that no team has ships available to it that the other teams don't. That does in fact make things more fair.
Mar 30, 2015 Jaks link
Then why is the WTD being excluded?
Mar 31, 2015 tarenty link
The WTD is the tier-equivalent of an IBG or SVG.

Fairness is not when someone creates a playing field that reduces most people's advantages but retains their own.

Furthermore, anyone with the right standing, regardless of nation, can access the wtd, svg and ibg. It's not a matter of fairness that people haven't made the effort to obtain these ships.

I can only assume Mistena is trying this rule out because of people yammering about "too many valks" at NW.

The truth is that the skyprom is the deadliest ship and if the serco chose to show up with as many able pilots as the Itani did -- and all flying sky proms -- they would win every time. But the serco are generally cowards, so they rarely, if ever, show up. The UIT obviously have shit for choices at the valk/sky prom level, so they are forced to fly with inferior ships and get killed nearly everytime they are matched with an equal or larger itani or serco opposition.

I'm all for the host setting the rules of NW... but I won't be surprised if there is little turnout for this one.

Now now, we did show up in our proms. We knew we going to die (had to do a death ritual before joining the battle, which is why we didn't immediately join it). The main issue is that the time sucks for most of us sercos. I had to plan my day around NW just to make it. 2 hours earlier or later and the serco turn out will most likely be bigger. Or maybe not. Anywho, I foresee a Greyhound Fest this sunday, and I may join it.

"Fairness is not when someone creates a playing field that reduces most people's advantages but retains their own."

Neither is fairness when there are ships that only specific teams can access. However, it is possible to gain skill with the fair ships, whereas it is simply not possible at all for people to obtain national ships. Therefor, Mistena's rule results in a net increase in fairness. Whether or not that level of fairness is worth taking the national ships out of Nation War is a valid thing to argue about, but trying to call it unfair is just silly.

Yes some did show up, and it was good.. and perhaps the time issue is a factor in Serco participation. But I can easily remember many a time when there were PLENTY of ONE chatting and/or spotted in game during nation war but they failed to show up.

I never called it specifically unfair, I more implied it didn't seem likely to make nationwar more fair.

I sort of have to agree with JakP on this, I have not been able to make a single NW, mostly because my job has rather odd (re:shitty) hours. I would make a small suggestion that maybe NW could have variable hours to give more people to participate. Nothing drastic, and keeping in mind the fact that this game does have players from around the world so no time is ever going to be "convenient" for everyone.

Also, just want to say that even though I have never been able to participate, I think it is awesome that Misty brought this back, and that she is under no obligation to do so, so maybe we should cut her some slack and be nice about how we suggest things.

That said, since my job has magnanimously decided that a Gentile such as myself should not have to work on Easter, I shall see you all Sunday (barring family commitments running way too long) so all you non-blue folks will have an inexperienced target to shoot at. ;)
