Thank you for the sticky. Recently reformatted my PC. (Last Week). Didn't forget about Vendetta Online (awesome community here). Going to DL F@H and continue my quest to kick all your asses.

Just curious, any idea why people decided to do protein folding instead of other projects out there?
May 14, 2007 who? me? link
cause this one is the one vendetta had a team on!

I think the devs started the team but it was this thread from Phoenix that brought most of the players onboard.

http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/8/4926

It made it seem a little more worthwhile than the alien hunt.

I think VO needs a SETI@home team :P

This is a space MMO, after all....
Sep 14, 2007 yodaofborg link
SETI@home is a (debatable) waste of CPU cycles. If there is life out there (you would be naive to think that there isn't) , we aint going to find it by scanning the sky's for radio broadcasts and the likes.

Infact! I think that if we do ever find extraterrestrial intelligent life, it will be because it finds us! Cos we suck!

This may be true, Yoda, but at least it's cosmos-related.

Also, it has prettier graphics.

I'm trying to think of a distributed computing project that involves space aside from that, but I can't think of one.

Ty bean, I do try :)

On a side note, I have not had F@H on my home network for ugh, ages now? But yet somehow still have 4 machines folding away, heh. Time for me to fire it up at home I think and catch Incarnate at last ;)

Wow, my own average PPD is higher than the team's combined total right now... considering defecting from my current team to rejoin you guys, but there needs to be some effort here!

umm how do i ditch a unit, for some stupid reason it gave me one expected to take 1284 days, 17 hours and 44 minets.

EDIT now it's down to 5 days, no idea how that happened.
Mar 08, 2008 Pyroman_Ace link
Yeah, you can't really follow the "Estimated Time" too closely. I know that my laptop for school gets an average WU of 450 frames that it estimates to take anywhere from 1-30 days and some change in hours. My desktop gets 1500 frame WUs and it always says 2-3 days for completion.

Oh, and add a 6th computer of mine to the fray:
MacBook Pro (fiancee's laptop)

yea this is a 1500 frame work unit, not sure how big that is but it's nearly done now.
