Trident turbo not always turboing

Mar 10, 2014 csgno1 link
That odd behavior that was fixed seems to be back, sometimes, when turbo is enacted on a trident and then the pilot jumps to a turret, acceleration does not always continue.

Last night I typed /+turbo and watched the speed begin to climb into the 40's, then jumped to a turret. When I exited the turret maybe 30 seconds later I saw the speed at 46 then climb. For the time I was in the turret it should have been going much faster. It's as if the speed remained constant while i was in the turret.

Does it happen without any plugins?

I did not try that. But it used to not happen with my plugins, and the only ones I've updated since are turrethop and reporter. I will do an experiment, thank you for the idea.

This is supposed to happen. The devs implemented this to counter infinite-turbo turret-spamming on ships.

No, they didn't. Stop being an asshole.

This seems to be a combination of the lockup that happens when your Trident is being hit and switching between turrets using TurretHop. It doesn't happen without TurretHop because when you try to do it using the default interface, the game just sits there stuck and doesn't show you the PDA/Tactical until after it unlocks.

Honestly, I think we should be able to bind keys to select different turrets so that plugins aren't even necessary, but so far that feature doesn't exist.

So you want to hit the accelerator and then climb into the passenger's seat? That doesn't sound very safe.

Nobody said anything about wanting it to be safer, Ray. :)

Odds are if you're operating your own turret, your ass already is on the line from players or NPCs trying to kill you. Getting in to a intragalactic fender bender is the least of your worries.
