Either when starting up VO, or enabling it on the fly.

MacOSX 10.9.3, happened both before and after the latest update.

Niki: the reason I did not post it there is because this is not an OS-specific issue. I checked that thread, and ARF reported it to be happening on Linux. Best fit = here for now.

I haven't tried to debug it further than: "When I disable voice chat the game stops crashing"

Until we find and fix the problem, Voice Chat is now disabled when running on OS X 10.9 Mavericks or higher.

My PowerBook cannot run Mavericks or higher... (mainly because it's dead for a while)
