Deneb/Sector Timeout

May 25, 2015 HepFree link
If you leave the sector for more than 30 second while doing a skirm in Deneb, the sector resets putting all of the ships back to their original position.

So after you deshield a Tdon, of you leave the sector and come back, you come back to the Tdon being charged by a de-shielded dent, etc.

I don't understand what you mean by a teradon being charged by a de-shielded trident.

He means the NPCs revert back to their starting locations and acquire new targets when the sector wakes back up.

Yes, thanks for explaining that much better than I did.

Ray, sectors should save state after 30 seconds, not reset. Even conq station sectors. Limits strategy if have to be back in 5 minutes before turret magic reset.

Of course they need to save state. They do for the most part. But there are some things that are difficult to save or were missed.
Conq station sectors have a longer timeout because of the issue of saving state with that.

The Deneb skirmishes are supposed to have their state saved when the sector is done, so there must be a bug there somewhere.

Actually the 30 S timeout is affecting escort missions too. A strung out voy means you have to refly the route to wake up sectors to complete the mission .

It still is affecting escorts.

its also affecting war convoys, they always reset to being out in the asteroid field (making them virtually useless)

Seems like there should be a list of sectors with custom timeouts.

... or NPC's should just remember their locations in the sector instead of being teleported back to some pre-defined start positions.

I remember when I was young and I used to complain about this problem

So what you're saying is this bug's been around for 10 freakin years, right?
