when you enter a station could the channel automatically go to the one the player last used
where's the fun in that?
:-)
:-)
I still want color-coded chat input fields...
I thought he was going to say we had to go directly to the water closet.
Yes, what Cunjo said. You type in the color of the chat "style" you're in: Guild/Group/System/Comm/Barchat
Good idea.
Schedule for implementation.
Thank you.

I believe what bean is asking for is the last type of chat (sector/channel/group/guild) used before docking with the station to be the one selected upon docking. This is how the old interface worked (the one from before all the beta UI clients), but when we started with the more tabby interface, we lost that ability.
So, chatting with group chat, then docking, should have group chat selected in the station interface instead of whatever you last used in the PDA. An option to switch between these would be good for those who like it this way.

So, basically, what this means is we should have the PDA defaults change to however people are chatting while flying? Since the PDA really "is" the station, from an interface standpoint.
Aye that, Incarnate.
An option to do so would be nice...
Frequently something like this happens:
I log in, say hi and whatnot over channel/guild chat before undocking, then go out flying for a bit. I'll then chat while flying from one station to another, most likely in channel chat, and then dock. Someone says something over guild or group chat that I want to respond to, but I've docked first. Instinctively, I click on the chat line and start typing--but I send my chat to 100 instead of where I wanted it to go. Instant wc.
It's definitely not as good as having the client read your mind about where you want something to be sent, (talk about pipe dreams >_>;) but I think it's safe to assume that if someone is talking before they dock, the next line of chat they want to type will most likely be intended to be sent to that same kind of chat.

Well.. we can certainly have it default to the last-used channel or some such. But if you use keys instead of clicking on chat, the behaviour is the same whether you're flying around or in the PDA/station. "g" goes to group chat, "G" goes to guild chat, "t" to channel chat. So if you just.. don't click (which takes longer to do anyway), it should work? I mean, it's not like you're clicking while flying :).
Aside from all of that, I can look into having the pda/station default to whatever was previously used while flying.

And the colors? can we please have the input colors indicate the channel?
Pretty please, with sugar on top?
Yes! Colors! typing in the color of your chat channel!
I would buy you all more coffee?

Pretty colors? Something like black would be a bad idea FYI
There are no black color-coded channels/chat types...
Demonen: User-defined chat colors. :P
If users want to define stupid colors, let them :)
incarnate, was this default channel switch accomplished in the recent updates?
Test it and find out! (hint: it wasn't when I logged in yesterday)
