Corvus Tomahawk (raptor build :P )

Mar 27, 2009 Touriaus link
Corvus being known for taking union/tpg ships and creating their own variant for negarious purposes...why not the raptor.

Faction: Obvious
Standing: POS (1000)
Levels: 5/4/8/0/0
Armor: 9000
Cargo: 3
Weapon: 1 Large Port. (centered)
Mass: 4000kg
Length: 17m
Thrust: 230n (too much?)
Spin Torque: 8.5 nm
Max Speed: 65 m/s
Turbo Speed: 230 m/s (wishful thinking, maybe unbalanced even)
Turbo Drain: 60/s
Price: 80,000

TPG Raptor Prototype blueprints recently "acquired" by Corvus Prime yields a chopped and modified raptor frame and improved and cloned TPG engines. Corvus having in mind a highspeed heavy weapons support vessel. Weapon mounted centered under the nose and mass redistribution. Along with improved armor plating and fine tuned engines. Combining speed and low Large Port firepower for an in-storm/sector interceptor capability.

So I'm bored. This is what I thought I'd *like* in a raptor.

and throw a gatling cannon mkII on it :P

even though I like the heavy weapon idea

/me pistol whips ryan then mecha.
Screw you ryan and mecha you suck!

but i love the idea so [Stamp of approval]

this one is actually pretty original even though its another crazy fast raptor variant like all the other ones the fact it only has 1 large port makes it a nice niche ship.

Approved over and over again, I suggest inc should take the raptor texture and down the brightness and up the contrast on it making it nice and corvus like.
That would be wicked sweet.

agreed! make it dark and corvus-esque

It's funny to see someone else come up with this idea; I was considering a single large-port for the Peregrine.

The good: I think the performance specs are reasonable. The speed and drain are in line with Strat's idea in the Peregrine thread that all Raptors should become fast sprinters. It still won't be as good at dodging as any of the better Vultures, but the thrust may be high enough to make it something other than a sitting duck. This would be a reason to use a Raptor.

The bad: I don't think giving Corvus a version of TPG's advanced ship fits in to the game very well. Other Corvus ships are based on platforms that are widely available, usually with several faction-specific versions. POS status is too much. +960 like Tunguska would, I think be adequate.

The ugly: I'm not sure about the large port. I do like the idea of single-port ships, and I'd probably fly this with your gat2 or a megaposi. Everyone else would probably fly it with AGT. Of course, that would make it an easy target for those of us who can aim. It would, at least be interesting to see how that worked out in actual use.

the fact it has a single large port makes it cool/different
thats why it should be implemented.

the Peregrine is just another fast ship we don't need.

If we want to encourage diversity, we should give factions other than Corvus some tools, too. Corvus currently has 3 unique ship designs.

Corvus currently has 3 unique ship designs

And hopefully sometime soon, getting access to them will require giving up access to any and all of the three major factions' ships.

Whining denied.

heh well maybe corvus could have two more unique ships just to make it worth it.
Mar 27, 2009 toshiro link
True, Lecter. Having access to one major faction's ships will mean renouncing the claim to the others', period. But I was talking about the minor factions. It is they (in my opinion) who could stand more attention.

Corvus steal stuff all the time.

and the use of AGT and swarms on this would severely limit them being able to do much of anything but fire the things. I added 100kg mass and more could be added but then the thrust would become pointless. I personally think looking at the stats and theorizing what could be done with it makes it somewhat of an easily crappy ship if you fly it wrong and use the wrong weapons on it (like swarms) but a decent one given the effort to fly it.

the POS is because of the fact that the blueprints were stolen from tpg and they in a sense cloned the raptor and tweaked it. So you wouldn't just let anyone fly a prototype of a stolen ship design. And the fact that with the faction system being redone soon, you could expect this ship to be severely limited to players in the universe. (only players choosing to "side" with corvus) And right now mostly only the traders have POS with everything and it seems unlikely any of them would fly this. The traders tend to prefer heavy ships and I imagine this would be a bit intimidating to learn to fly. So only a select few of dedicated pilots would be able to fly it.

Shit! Don't you think we have enough Corvus Special Ships?
