Be Fair to UIT

Since the new update on standings, UIT members are no longer to buy Proms and Valks. VO has upgraded the Raptor, a little, and made it UIT exclusive. This is nice, but we all know that the Raptor is not in same league of ships with the Valk and Prom. It seems like it is not much more than an overpriced Vulture, and given the price, I would rather fly a Vulture. Give UIT a better exclusive ship.

Suggestion

Basic Raptor UDV with current specs or improved specs at lower price and standings requirements

Interceptor Raptor UDV with 2 small ports, 75ms speed, 225 turbo speed

Raptor UDV Fighter with increased armor, same speed as basic, and add 2 large ports to the 2 small ports already on ship

The cost of these 3 should be increased with each level up and start in the 30k to 40k range
The License requirements should increase with each level up and start with basic at say 7/7/ and up to 8/8/ for Interceptor and go to 9/9/9/ for Fighter

Without a good fighting ship most would rather go to Itani or Serco, even if that means starting over.

If combat was your main thing, you were mistaken to choose UIT in the first place. I know, I know...reading the backstory is hard.

You're kidding, right?

I could see asking for them to buff the BioCom vult or something, but really? The new Raptor variant addresses nearly every complaint people had with the MkII aside from it's actual size.

Your "Raptor UDV Fighter" is not a fighter craft. It is a heavy assault craft, and would need a mass boost to go with the added armor and extra hardpoints. Add a slight nerf to the turbo speed for good measure.

Yes, I'm cross-posting this from here, because it's equally appropriate to this thread and it's an important consideration.

How about we leave it how it is and get Incarnate to adjust mission rewards so they are more sane and then remove the hard-cap on other major nations. One of the big problems plaguing the faction system including the previous lack of mutual exclusion has been the ludicrous mission rewards that completely trivialize the process of flip-flopping allegiances.

All I am trying to say is that since VO took away our chance of getting the Valks and Proms, we need something that is better than what we have and it should be set up on levels just like the Valks and Proms.

As for Combat, I for one do not go out looking for a fight, like some, but I still need the ability and ship to fight when necessary.

If this game is going to have 3 major factions, then all 3 should be fairly treated. Give us a ship that has a fighting chance or let us have access to the Proms and/or Valks. Something should be able to be put in place for the UIT to have access to one or both, even if the two enemies don't have access to the others ships.

"we need something that is better than what we have and it should be set up on levels just like the Valks and Proms"

Why?

You chose the faction that chooses not to fight in the war but to prosper in other ways. Why do you need a military ship and why would the UIT develop one to risk invoking the fury of either of the nations whos military could topple the UIT in a day.

You're a trader nation you don't need valks or proms and you have access to every sub faction ship variant earlier than anyone else

Just because the faction changes are 10 years late doesn't meant the intention of the original nation has to be accomadated for uits hooked on valks and proms in here here and now.

What if UIT got the very best Moth variant?

Good idea Whistler. +1 to a UIT moth

We have it. Its called Corvus. The CorVult might not quite rank with Valks or Proms, but its a damn fine fighter, and outclasses just about everything else. Also there is the TungTaur, the RevC etc.

hint: Space truckerz have no need of an abraham.
You have six slots in character creation, want to fly a prom or a valk create a serco or an itani character.
Wait just create an itani one you're too much of a whiner to be serco.

I'll be honest I really don't care if UIT gets a new national ship or a national ship that competes with the Itani and Serco ships as long as it isn't so ridiculously outside the existing ship parameters that it becomes absurd (like the OP's suggestion, both ships are absurdly ABSURDLY overpowered)

There's nothing wrong with new variants or new ships, even top tier ones and there's nothing wrong with them being for UIT.

That UDV Raptor is actually a seriously good ship though, it fills the fighter/interceptor role beautifully and its just a matter of time before we see people using them to great effect. I'm pretty sure UIT pilots have what they need to compete as a fighting force in terms of ships and if we did see a return of the likes of FR that would become clear.

What if UIT got the very best Moth variant?

Back in the old days before there was a Behemoth, let alone an entire family of Behmoth variants, the best trading ship was arguably the Marauder, which shared a similar privileged position (if not role) as the Valk and Prom as the 'iconic' UIT ship.

My, times have changed.

+1 to awesome UIT-exclusive Maud variants.
Feb 04, 2014 TheRedSpy link
Yeah it was the Valent Maurauder RevB that was the trade ship of choice.

A new and more combat viable maud would definitely be something i'd like to see, but it should not have infiniturbo.
Feb 04, 2014 abortretryfail link
Corvus beat you to the punch by a few years on that suggestion, though a UIT or sub-faction variety that's competitive is a good idea.
Feb 04, 2014 Pizzasgood link
The TPG Type-X Maud is actually better than the Cormaud. More armor, more cargo, less turbo drain. The only advantage the Cormaud has is slightly higher turbo thrust and turbo speed, which make sense for a piracy-oriented version. For actual combat, the Type-X is better due to the extra armor and identical mass, thrust, speed, and torque.
Feb 04, 2014 abortretryfail link
Yeah the TPG maud rocks, but the same can't be said about Valent's. The main thing it seems to have going for it is the larger cargo hold, but that's been long eclipsed by newer ships.

Bah, if the Raptor is an assault ship, give the poor thing 2 Large Wep Ports and be done with it. ;)
