Skins

Allow them to work again.

They do... you just need to rename a few files.

Which ones. When I tried to use the skin file provided by ray the majority of things turned white even after using the pngconverter

So really the suggestion here is to post an updated skin template so that skin designers can make their skins work again?

That would be nice. Or if anyone knows what I need to rename files to they could just post that. This is the problem I get when using the skin template:

In the config.ini add in this line below "Vendetta" or something, cant remember. The line is "/skin=skin" and thats it.

Did you even read the thread, you mindless puddle of bilge? Hell, did you even glance at the image he posted? Clearly he knows how to enable skins already (plus to make matters worse, the config entry you list isn't even correct; shouldn't be a slash). The issue is that last year the devs changed some of the filenames that skins use, which broke all the old skins.

Inevitable, these links should help:

I just checked, and the skin I adjusted that way still works. If that's not enough for yours, let me know and I'll upload this one so you can compare them and figure out what's wrong with yours.

Rin, what did bilge ever do to you for you to insult it like that?

Sorry if I misunderstood something.I thought what he meant was that skins used to work without the "/skin=skin" and now something changed that makes the skins not work if you do not enter that line. Im not big on this computer crap.I dont know this technical stuff and even though I speak English fluently I tend to misunderstand the essence of what people say, regardless of the fact that I understand every word separately. Yes I did read the thread, and yes the line is with the slash.I got everything right. Thats the way I was thought and thats the way it is in my config.ini.Maybe it also works without the slash, I dont know. As I said though, I misunderstood the question, I'll go pray to gods for forgiveness.

The problem was that I didn't have a '\' at the end of my "skinfilename"

so it read "C:\Program Files\Vendetta Online\skins\newskin"
instead of the correct way"C:\Program Files\Vendetta Online\skins\newskin\"

so it must have the '\' at the end

Shatterdome: No, it does not work if you have a slash at the beginning of the line. If you do that, the game simply ignores that line and uses the default built-in skin instead of the one you're trying to define. Slashes only belong in the path to the skin, not in the variable name.

BAD:
/skin=skins/my_skin/

GOOD:
skin=skins/my_skin/

Or, if your using Windows it would be:

skin=skins\my_skin\

Linux would be:

skin=skins/my_skin/

Added for clarity. Just sayin. ;)

As I said I dont know much about this but all I know is im using a skin and my line says /skin=skin and it works. Also, I dont have the my_skin part. *shrug*
Feb 28, 2014 Pizzasgood link
The lack of a my_skin part is because you didn't put it in a subdirectory (optional, but makes things more organized if you have several skins you want to try out).

It should not be working if you have a leading /. Are you certain that it's actually using that skin and not the default? Try removing that slash and see if it makes a difference (if removing it breaks everything, remove the whole entry and see what that looks like).

Possibly whatever platform you use strips nonsense characters off the beginning of the variable names. The Linux version doesn't do that; when I put a leading slash on the entry, the skin switches back to the default. It's definitely not supposed to be there though.

While I am interested in how this turns out, shouldn't this thread be moved to "Community Projects"?
Just sayin'.
Keep up the good work guys and good luck Inevitable.
