Cease nation changing now - or attach a fee

With the introduction of the 2L port UDV, I think it's finally time to stop people from changing their nation.

People have whined about exclusivity for years and finally got it. But changing nations allows for circumvention of this. In some cases I have seen characters change between all three nations, sometimes multiple times.

This kind of devromancy subverts the exclusivity of ships as you seem to have intended, as someone who wanted access to all elite ships on one character would simply need to switch their nation three times, buying gobs of them for use later.

The issue of vets having stores of elite ships they probably shouldn't have will still persist, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't enforce the exclusivity as much as you can going forward.

In the title I also said "attach a fee", but I have realized now that this would essentially make it a pay to win scenario, which would be out of character with VO.

Greeny has this one 100% right.

Or automatically sell all nation specific ships purchased between two changes.
-1 fer pay to cheat.

And if 'em whine, remove also all Xp badges or any kind of achievement acquired between the two changes :p

As usual, +1 to this idea (minus the fee silliness). We have six character slots for a reason.

+1 with the instant sell of all other nation ships. Or let player keep ships but set em KOS all space when flying other faction ships than his/her own.

Anyone who previously had a nation change should retroactively have their ships sold as well.

I totally agree that players should not be able to continually change nations at will.

On another game I played, players could change nations, but this incurred a big drop in levels. For this game I would suggest a reduction of all license levels by at least 30%, or even better 50%. True this could be easily enough made up again, but should deter some frequent changes.

Changing a nation isn't something that can be implemented.. The devs just have to stop doing it and they're the ones that create and enforce the rules.

The only game suggestion then in question is what to do with those that have had the devs change their nation. Should a changed player keep their hoards of now exclusive ships they shouldn't have.. Or take them away/disable their use.

+billion to culling the database of any faction exclusive items that a player of the incorrect faction possesses.

It's one thing to jump faction by personal dev favor, it's another to then use items in the game that no other player who is playing by the rules has access to.

(edit) player of that faction has access to.

Simply ceasing to change people's faction is all that is needed to happen here. Any stockpiles will eventually be exhausted on their own through simple attrition -- or if they aren't, that means the player is not using the stockpile, making its existence irrelevant. This isn't an e-sport where we need to be super anal about every little thing because people are competing professionally. It's perfectly fine to let people hang on to artifacts of a bygone era. In fact, doing so is a VO tradition.

Hey guess what, not only should it not be a conversation we have to have, it ISN'T a conversation we need to have:

Also set a rule where players can not set other nation's specific ships as their active ship.

Active as in "undock and fly"? Why?

Because Boda's a crybaby and is pissed he doesn't have any and/or enough valks on his serco account and wants to take this out on every other vet who took the time to stockpile before the exclusivity happened.

Seriously Boda... nobody flies their irreplaceable special ships now except under very special occasionas 'cause nobody wants to lose them. Give it a fuckin rest.

What are you talking about greenwall?

I suggest this because that's the whole point of this topic. It's to stop people of one nation using another nations ships.

We all have alts to use other ships. It has nothing to do with what I've stockpiled as I've always RPed correctly. Not once have I bought another nations ship on any of my alts.

The point is no one should be able to fly their rival nation's ships. At least until there is some black market system in which there would be repercussions for flying said rivals ships.

You're even the one who created this topic-- why so condescending?

No, the point of this topic was to stop nation changing -- and this has been addressed by incarnate.

Further limiting access to elite ships you can no longer buy is a different topic.

That's the most ass backwards thing I've heard you say.

Stop nation changes so people cant stock pile a shit ton of elite ships.... but let the people who have taken advantage of what you want changed to be able to reap the benefits.. lol
