Guild Ranks and subs

Nov 10, 2014 Sterrre link
I don't like having a subscription, instead I like to manually pay when I want to refill my subscription every month, that's just how I like to pay. Unfortunately the side effect of doing that is that I get stripped of my guild rank on the same day every month.

Therefore my suggestion is that when a premium player resubs manually their guild rank is automatically given back. As it is now I have to wait for one of my guildies to be on at the same time as me. Or perhaps add as certain amount of days after a subscription ends before stripping guild ranks because how it is currently is highly annoying.

Premium players get removed from guild positions when they unsub? That doesn't seem correct, given all the people in officer / commander positions who presumably are not subbed.

Perhaps this is a sideeffect of the mobile version?

if you have ever had a lite sub too this will happen

I think Lite/F2P users are prevented from holding higher guild ranks, to make that a tradeoff vs being a full sub.

The issue is that if we automatically give-back the previous guild rank, we may also have to deal with the case where the guild has already appointed someone else to the respective rank, and "handle" that case, etc. Then it gets into a situation of "how long will we automatically give the rank back"? A few days? A week? A month? Obviously at some point it could become strange to the guild membership when this person who has been away, returns and automagically receives their rank.

It may be simpler and better overall to just give people some kind of general notification grace-period, of a couple of days, when we say that this is going to happen unless they re-subscribe. But, this also just kind of delays the problem. It's also a bit involved.

But, ultimately, even with this, the OP could resolve the issue by just adding time to his/her account before it expires, which amounts to the same thing. You don't have to let the account expire before adding more time. If you have 15 days left, and add another month, it'll still count the 15 days you have before ever using the added month.

If the above doesn't work for some reason (only allowing you to purchase once, and then not giving you the option after it's active) let us know and we'll try and improve the IAP system as well. Similarly, you could use an out of band payment system (like PayPal) directly via our website, to add time to your account.

The issue is that if someone has ever had a lite sub, letting a full sub lapse creates a penalty that does not exist if they just let their full sub lapse for several months.

Scenario 1:
October: Full
November:lite or not subbed
December:Full

You are actually penalizing people for supporting you with money you would otherwise not have.

This is a horrible implementation and either all full subs expiring should strip guild membership in the same way, or none should. Alternatively, if lite/free subs really are something you are embracing, then stop treating them as red-headed lemming leper step-children.

Yeah, I had to put in a support ticket to get rid of the lite sub i bought once upon a time just to see what it was like. Keep the $1, I don't want the headache.
