It'll also make a lot of ships that have weak engines totally useless when they take some damage. That would be a change worth re-balancing the game over.

Yeah, up to 30% loss of Turbo thrust would be awesome. It'd stop the running when you're low rubbish.

No. *facepalm* Turbo thrust isn't only used for running. It has other valid uses in PVP, such as slinging flares. Also to close ground quickly, surprising your opponent but in a risky manner. You don't want those crazy clutch victories that's making PVP so fun to go away? Don't mess with any of the numbers.

Ships did number two for a short time a couple of years ago.. but it was taken out again after complaints.

ok ..found some threads mentioning it:

The official reason for not kleeping it was for performance reasons.

I think revisiting features that were tabled or removed for client performance reasons is more than appropriate to be re-looked at by devs considering the last few releases. Nearly 7 years of computer advancement should be able to handle some smoke effects.

Not once have I ever used turbo to sling a flare. Nor has that tactic ever worked.

Yeah it does work, but only on ships that have crazy amounts of Turbo Thrust so that they can equip multiple heavy rocket launchers and still have a good thrust/mass ratio to accelerate quickly enough to avoid autoaim.
Hint: Your Valkyrie X-1 isn't one of these.

"It'll also make a lot of ships that have weak engines totally useless when they take some damage. That would be a change worth re-balancing the game over."

Nah. If they have weak turbo thrust to begin with, then they aren't going to be using it in a fight enough to suffer from it being weakened. It's the ships with disproportionate turbo thrust compared to normal thrust that will notice this change; Greyhound for example. It would be significantly easier to kill a wounded Hound than a pristine one.

As somebody who uses turbo to close ground quickly and surprise my opponent in a risky manner, I say it's worth the trade. Also, note that that technique isn't really something you want to do while that low on armor anyway. As for flare slinging, flares are a limited resource and thus irrelevant. You don't win ten fights in a row without docking by using flares.

Pfft... Normally you briefly press turbo for the extra push, let go a flare, then dodge in another direction while backpedaling to avoid AA. Or just fly right past. More risky than not using turbo at all, but it's effective for landing one right into your opponent's face. Sure, it can work on X-1, just not with dual suns. +2000 is too much for a light ship, indeed.

As someone who never leaves a battle until I'm killed or I kill my opponent, I still do not see a problem with running to repair. THIS IS A ROLE PLAYING GAME...at its core anyways. If I am playing as a Serco fighter, I'm not going to stick around out of respect for my opponent if my opponent is Itani, and same goes for the other way around. That would be dumb. "I can tell you beating me in this fight, so you know what...I'm gona go ahead and let ya kill me.", said NO ONE. PvP by nature should not be honorable. Once again, that is just dumb. PvP can be honorable if its between two parties that have no hostility with one another. But if you don't like the person you're fighting, it would be dumb and meaningless to allow them to kill you.

Having said this...I love everyone that I fight so I never run, but then again I am a member of [TRI].

I think maybe we should revisit that idea once destroyable or damageable subsystems exist. Then ships that have been "critically damaged" might have a chance of losing subsystems like radar, comms, turbo, jump drive, etc.

The health % of your ship is how much ARMOR is left. That armor is presumably there to protect your ship's more delicate components or squishy pilot parts. Honestly, you should still be able to fly perfectly fine with zero armor as long as no damage has been done to the underlying systems.
