Trident weapon options

The recent changes are ok, but I think further enhancements need to be made to the tridents primary weapon. My suggestions include the following...

1) Add a second large port. Or maybe even a third.

2) An enhanced verson of the megaposi or queen gattling cannon that does double the current damage, but weighs about 50,000 kg

3) Getting rid of the large port which really is underpowered for a trident and imo is just plain silly and replacing it with a turret, while creating turreted versions of the megaposi or queen gattling cannon that does roughly double the damage of the current versions.

Or some variation of the above that results in the same capability.

But to do any useful damage make it 3x the damage of the normal weapoon. A Trident Mega Posi would do roughly 3500 damage, weigh 50.000kg and be 10 grid power or something.

And another large port please. Or make it 3 total. That's cool with me too.

Nah the megaposi is fine.

Just add a single Large port, that shouldn't be too overpowered. Inline, like the Taur's Lports.

Remember, the Trident is not an assault ship. That class is for the Heavy Frigates, like the Teradon and HAC.

With the tridents lack of mobility, it will never be good as an assault ship- though I do hope that the S & P versions will be militarized versions with much better capabilities and reduced cargo space. To be effective, the current trident would have to attack a stationary target or another slow vessel like a trident.

More L-ports makes tridents too capable a miner on its own; I think adding in some stronger weapons is a better idea than tacking on more ports. Maybe a Trident charged-cannon variant designed to work well with the trident cell might be better, or throwing in Teradon cannons.

what's wrong with a mining trident?

-1 to ports, +1 to capital L-port weapons and capital L-port/turret mining beams.
