how to keep pirates away from you

Is there anything you can use to drive pirates nuts so they give up on you?

Probably the same tactics that would cause a npc enemy to give up on you in other games.

The op however, will probably get you top priority on any pirates list. Congrats! I know I'll be looking for you....

Have you tried this?

Really though, most things that you can do to "drive pirates nuts" will usually make them want to kill you more. Instead, equip some weapons and learn how to use them. Even a Behemoth can be a very dangerous target in the hands of a skilled pilot.

There's also the old "just pay the nice man" option, for those who accept payments...

Drop one of these and run while they are distracted.

Probably the best way is the path that abortretryfail stated. Simply become better thru game play, get better weapons, then go hunting pirates. Of course you are going to get killed, a lot. But really, being killed in this game really isn't that big of a burden. You loose ship/cargo, but earning $ to replace those is easy enough.

Become good enough to hunt pirates, I'm not there yet but getting closer. When you are good enough, they will run from you, because after all, they are mostly cowards and only want to beat up on those that are weak an powerless. I'm sure their tendency towards being cowardly more than likely is a result of an incredibly small penis.

Apparently, Savet gets all of his midget photos from Potato Studios. WTF is with that image quality?

Anyway, back on topic: A good thing to remember is: Don't try to outrun a Corvus Greyhound in anything remotely resembling a cargo ship. You will almost certainly fail unless you've got a huge lead ahead of them (think several km). Also, if you decide to turn and fight, consider dropping your cargo first. You can dodge a lot better without all that extra mass, and unless the enemy has a lot of cargo space, the odds of them just taking it and running are pretty slim.

Another thing you can try if you have a ship with turrets is paying a newbie to be your gunner. Lots of new people have experience aiming from other games, but their lack of prowess in Vendetta comes from not being able to dodge so well yet. With somebody else to focus on throwing neutron fire out the back of your ship, you might be able to buy enough time to jump to a station to dock safely with your cargo. This works well against bots in storms too.
