The Hive as an optional Faction

May 12, 2015 RoboticMechanicalJeb link
I'm thinking of the Hive as a Optional faction.
There's no training missions though.

The Orun Collector is free.

DenTek Collectors and Artemis Collectors cost about 2,000c (F2P or lite sub, 3-4 Crystals)

DenTek and TyCorp Assaults need a Liscense of 1/1/-/-/- and cost about 4,000c (if F2P and Lite sub, 5-6 Crystals)

Guardians Require a Liscense of 3/3/3/-/- and cost about 5-6,000 credits (F2P and Lite sub, 6-7 Crystals)

Overseers require 4/3/1/1/- to 5/5/2/2/1

Queens will act as Tridents/Constellation Transports

Leviathans will act as Space Stations.

Tell me what you think

You do realize those hive ships were designed to be terrible on purpose, to make them reasonable targets for relatively new people? They are as fat and lumbersome as an elephant's rump, and as slow as a snail.

I still want to fly a gutted queen. Hive built-in mining beams are heat-less. They *MAY* even cool roids. Research is ongoing...

If hive is a player option, then all it's chat should be translated to binary to all non-hive players.

We believe that Queens have a docking bay for a reason!

The black thing in the back of the queen IS a docling bay fluffy

For once, joylessjoker isn't being a troll.

There's a screenshot floating around here of a1k0n flying a Fennus Guardian around, complaining about how bad it handles.

I'd actually level up a hive alt. But, I agree with CD that there should be no communication with non-hive players.

Hive queens would also be a good place to test conquerable cap ships.

+1

Whether they are competitive or not, we have a whole fleet of ships that open up a new dynamic in gameplay that could provide newbies and vets alike a new roleplay path.

Hive Players will have a Special Channel that translates the Binary code to actual words (what they type is what appears) but if a Hive Player is in 100, everything they type will appear as Binary (non-hive players will have to find the Channel Hive Players are in)

Actually, my vote would be that hive chat simply doesn't show up at all for non-hive when done via a numbered channel, and vice-versa. Hive and non-hive should only be able to see each other's garbled chatting via PM, sector chat, and system chat. Anything else should be hidden as though /ignored.

This prevents things from getting annoying when you have two groups speaking essentially different languages in the same global channel.

And you should spawn from a queen in a random sector across the universe with unique missions in each system.

And the Hive Universe map is Different, it'll show where the Queens are and the Actual game space stations.
The Hive Capitol should be in Sedina
