Missing communication

Jun 29, 2004 Lin link
When i began playing in april or may last year, it was a complete new feeling for me, to talk to other people while playing. Some of you might remember me saying, that vendetta is/was my first onlinegame. The possibility to talk and interact with other players has given the game a kind of quality for me that i missed in other games (like these browsergames in example) and that was one feature, that "bound" me to the game.

Okay, sometimes in the past our public chat made me "mad", but i found a way for myself, to "overread" it and not talk when i don't want to - no, i never used /hidelog ... ;)
And, sometimes /ignore was my friend.

Now, our loved and/or hated public chat is gone ... and what happens? I feel "lonely" and i think, with me a lot of players do.
Good, we have the new feature named buddylist. But talking to other players in game is now kind of "work". Creating a group, when u want to talk to more than one of your friends at the same time, is nice as long you don't want to do a trademission or a singleplayer combatmission.
The "old" teamchat is gone, talking to your teammates is now only possible while docked in a station. sector- and systemchat ... okay, nice to have.

I understand, that, when the game is crowded by thousands of players, a public chat like we had it before, will not be needed ... but, at the moment we AREN'T thousands of players, only just a few, who now are "lost in space" ... ;)

I want to ask the devs, isn't there a way giving us the public chat back until you open the game to new players - just an interim solution?

Greetings

We're working on some new ideas that'll address your concerns while scaling to a much larger userbase. I agree, the current chat system is a little too restrictive. Hopefully we'll have some improvements in place.... before too long. :)
