Larger ships, around 50 to 150 meters.

Right now, all our ships are about the same size, which is just wierd. I think that at least one or two larger ships should be added, rare and only avalible through certain missions at first, but eventualy more should be put in.

Variety is the spice of life you know, and seeing all the ships the same size just seems wierd. Also, larger ships should probably have to be slightly farther from roids and stuff to warp safely.

How would larger ships dock? Would they like have a thing extend and then back that into the dock? Then maybe the same shield that comes around the exit docks can envelope the ship... or something.

I agree, Urza, although I think the devs have held off creating larger ships until they can devote enough time to do it the "right" way.

Player owned ships right now range from about 10 to 20 meters in length, which is sufficient for now. I don't think anyone would say a centurion is "about the same size" as a ragnarok. Bots have an even greater size variation; small recons to giant motherships. This makes sense if you think about it, bots don't need to all share components like life support and human-sized cockpits.

50-150 meter ships would indeed be cool (I myself have suggested this), but I would rather wait and see them implemented the "right" way post-release than have a hack job rushed into launch.

really, i think a 50m ship could dock in most stations right now...

Only so much time till release. Have other priorities. Read article in news post.

I just hope the Frigate won't be the biggest ship. The game right now lacks a sense of varying scale. While stations are a lot bigger than they used to be, they still don't feel HUUUUUUGE. Something bigger than capital ships would be nice too. Like it should take minutes to go from one end to the other for this uber big ship. Homeworld 2 anyone?

=)

A ship that big couldn't be rendered with the current engine, and would be lagtacular.

Not necessarily. Poly count determines "lag", not size. It shouldn't be an issue since the game's engine is fully capable of making distance objects less detailed.
