innocent until proven guilty

what i am saying is even now the tower issues warnings to the plane and if they do not respond with their intentions THEN AND ONLY THEN do they allow the fighters to tail the plane and shoot if nessary, that is the key portion they issue warnings. Celkan i think u forgot about that part. FM this would fit the war also such as a message poppin up saying "pilot u are not allied with this nation and u have ur system off, turn them back on or we will assume you to be hostile" Celkan in ur choices they would message the plane to determine if one or two is possible and if no response is achieved THEN THEY ASSUME the third.

Actually, Darth, you're wrong about the order of things.

Warnings don't always occur. Over a small town, sure. Over an "important national resource" like DC, Boston, New York, etc., not bloody likely any more. When Idiot Jr. visits Idiot Sr. up in Kennebunkport, our airfield (the one my father and I fly out of) is blanketed in a no-fly-zone. And because Idiot Jr. is such a "VIP" the various airports don't bother with warning planes to get out of the 30-mile TFR radius, that they just send the F-16s after the single-engine planes to escort them out of the area.

We're lucky; we're pretty close to the border, so taking off would be easy enough if they weren't too close. Landing would be the hard part, because we would have to go towards kennebunkport and turn around to land. Seriously, Darth, you don't know what you're talking about. I didn't forget anything. I know how this country works. It doesn't. At all. This is a nutcase who's taken over our country.

And frankly, no pilot is allied with *any* nation other than their initial choice, as it says in the /charinfo screen. So by your logic, I'm right anyway.

First, i think the 'radar' screen isn't any kind of radar anyway. If it was RADAR then asteroids would show up on the screen, or a ship could hide behind an asteroid. So let it be a display / scanner for energy signatures. If a ship cuts off its energy output by switching its systems off it wouldn't be shown on the ESS (Energy-Signature-Scanner ;-) As Stations have a higher energy output they're visible on the scanner even on long distance. Perhaps it would be a nice feature to have small, low-energy ships ('Bus', or a vulture with medium battery or less) only visible in a 2000m range, and larger ships like Ragnarok / Atlas visible on 4000m on the scanner.

For the Idea with the transponder: I wouldn't let dock a ship on the station when it refuses to identify, so it would be ok if the nation defense goes for the ship to check its identity or to shoot it down. If i enter such an area and i see 2 or 4 ships moving in my direction, i would target them of course. If its the nation defense then i would (should) know what happens here and switch my transponder on. The question is: Should the defense bot shoot at me, or should they just identify me and after that i'll be identified (for the stations authorities).

Just an idea, but i like it :)

Asteroids do show up on your radar, as little grey dots, just like the components of the stations. Depending on the transparency* settings of your monitor/vid card, you may or may not be able to see them very well.

*I think this was the setting that had to do with the fading of the radar objects.

in reply to ur post celkan, what i was getting at was that even now over the areas that u specified they dont shoot you out of the sky because u have ur system off. as u said they escort the plane out of the air space. The idea was that u would be shot and killed if u had it off, i have no problem with d bots coming to u and "escorting" essentially draggin u out of the sector(where to i dont know, and because of that added confusion and squabbling, i believe that a warning telling u to turn ur system on would be best). i think u believe me to be arguing about ur accuracy about what the system over no fly zones are, it is not. I am mearly stating that one should not be killed for having the system off when entering a sector. because with the little i know about the current air ways system i know they do not shoot some g-a or a-a fire at u for not having ur systems on

so all in all i am saying that it should issue a warning just to avoid ppl getting slaughtered just because they were careless, and if the warning is not replyed to in say 10-20 seconds then the bots should assume that the user plans not to turn the transpoder on and should be shot.

I believe I said this. http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/3/5648#73654

What you said is that they always use the radio first. In a no-fly-zone protecting our dictator-assuming-the-title-of-president, that step is IGNORED.

oh stop getting caught up on the nitty gritty details, get the over all message, a warning should be issued before being blasted out of the sky and indeed i missed that last post of urz where u agreed with me upon what i said. got lost in u correcting me about all the procedural stuff that i mixed up *passes the peace pipe*

I don't smoke. Gives you bad breath, lung cancer and all other sorts of crap like that. You can go ahead and kill yourself slowly if you like.

:P

...on the other hand... /me takes the pipe, dumps out whatever is in it and fills it with soapbubble solution. Wheeeee!

um.. i havent' disgrased myself... seppoku is not apporicate for this occasion, it was simply a missunderstanding... extermist *me rolls eyes*, and fine how about the stamping of the foot sign of peace, now to stop this from going too far off topic w/ just me and celkan talking, i believe everyone agrees that there will be a traspoder thing that will allow u to turn off ur radar so u will be flying blind to others but to ur self also, plus if u have it off in an guarded sector u will be messeged to turn it on or risk being annilated(roughly 20 seconds will be given for u to respond any more and i think they would be able to get their dirty work done)

every one cool with that?

Just to play devil's advocate, I'll say no. :D
