Phaserlight: I never had much of a problem with "instant logoff." Back in the day when you could do it, I never used it. When someone else used it, I was mystified as to what was going on... after I saw it a few times, I thought "...what the heck,
if you're in a bad spot why not?" But still didn't use it. You (and others) seem to
think that it's OK to force combat on others. But there are some of us who take a
somewhat different view. If you want to duel, offer a challenge. Personally, I don't
like combat with people very much, and usually avoid it. But if someone ambushes me, I WILL hunt them down and bomb them back to a bus. Back on the subject of timers, my point is this: if you want to fight, there are plenty of ways to
get into one. But why try to force others to do something they don't want to do?
Leaving out the timers allows players more freedom to choose.

Roguelazer: Sorry dude. I didn't see it at first.

Thats completely ridiculous. If players want a trading sim, they'll go for EVE. If there is NO RISK involved in running up and down the galaxy, people just won't bother. Risk = fun.

If PvP was all we had to worry about, i'd be all for a timer. But can you honestly say that you'd be able to make it out of a sector in which you were KOS if you had to go for 10 seconds in a straight line at no more than 60 m/s? The defbots take <2 seconds to kill a moving target, never mind one that can't move...

Why not check this stuff out? Can we agree on a time and location for people to get together for PVP? An unmonitored area would be best. I'm available in the late evenings.

That would be 5:45 for me, so I probably won't be on then, but where?
