About Angering Strike Force Bots

I had an odd occurance today with Strike Force bots at the second NT capitol. I bumped into one of them by accident, received no red flash to indicate damage, and then all of a sudden my bus gets vaporized by its beams of doom. Yay! Well, since that was the sector I was already homed in, and since I only had about 100 credits left after license expenses, I was pretty much stuck in the sector with nothing but an EC-88 bus and a crapload of angry Strike Force bots outside the station. The only thing I could do was log off and log back on.

To a newbie this might've resulted in many hours of anger, frustration, and confusion. So my suggestion is to make the bots reset their pissy status once they've already gotten a chance to kill you once. If you leave the sector or if you die, they should leave you alone rather than grief the hell out of you repeatedly. It just doesn't make a lot of sense to me how they corner you into the station and prevent you from leaving repeatedly. That to me just ruins the gameplay to some extent, especially if you can't afford a fast ship to use in order to reach safety.

Anyway, I personally feel that bumping into an NPCDEF shouldn't automatically be marked as being hostile. Accidents happen. People crash into each other by chance. Yet the typical motorist doesn't pull out a gun and blast the other driver at the scene of an accident (at least not normally). The idea that a simple collision could spark such hatred is absurd. It's not like someone's following each NPCDEF with the intent of bumping them to death. If there's a way to distinguish between projectile damage and collision damage, then I think some revision should be considered. If not, fine. At the very least it would probably be a good idea to make the grudge be truly temporary in that if they've killed you once, they'll leave you alone. That's all.

It works the other way around as well. Defbots tend to run into you, especially close to stations. To add injury to insult, they turn around and kill you for standing in their way (and even call their buddies to help them).

Absolute power corrupts absolutly.

What happened to you was not some motorist pulling a gun out after a fender bender. What happens is that he shot you, then used your wallet to find and shoot your whole extended family, too.

I'll see if I can find a solution later today.
