i'd guess that it was someones first attack on a UIT member so they werent dodging the defbots until after they killed him. the UIT is also never going to be AS safe for new players as itani or serco space because it is so small.

this information should be availible to players as part of the character creation process.

There are always going to be people who whine about getting killed, the more danger they put themselves in the more they whine it seems (aka person in "no mans" land writes lengthy post while going through a box of kleenex while someone in the safe n00b turf basically says "yeah, I was ganked a couple of times").

What's even worse is that the only thing lost is a little bit of time and money for a new ship, the death penalty could be much much worse... just give Eve Online a try sometime.

I think the old addage applies here... if you have a fear of getting ganked, go play the sims online. Otherwise enjoy the thrill of the hunt or the destruction, whichever end you happen to be on.

Looks like my original post disapeared :(
I didnīt endager myselfe. At least I thought it would be save in my starting system, and the system where I was supposed to go to finish my trainingsmission.

I was in Eve. If you shot (not even killed) a player in a starting system you had a problem with Systemsecutety and no chance of surviving that encounter, except you used the "gridbug".

I have no fear getting killed in a fight with an other player. But that was no fight, that was slaughter. Do you know Dark Ages of Camelot? It was like a lvl 50 Sniper made a onehitkill to a lvl 20 caster. In DAoC of coures it is the problem of the spellcaster, because he entered the frontier. Thatīs why I suggest to implement save areas where people can reach the level that is necessary to fight back.

No systems are safe against first-time offenders. You cannot expect that to be so either. If I'm haloic and heroic, and decide to go renegade, spanking a horde of UIT n00bs, then so be it. I can do it, because up until then I Was a Hero. ;)

However, afterwards I have to pay for what I did. Dearly.

Now though, If you're up against somone who can actually dodge the strikeforces and still commit murders, or pirate you... Then you should probably rally some of your vets to fight them. Its completely possible for fex. Serco forces to invade Itani space and dodge the strikeforce, then head towards inner itani space and blast people out of the sky. Its not easy, its possible though. ;)

And, if you haven't tried shooting somone in a protected area, do that. just damage them a bit and see if you survive the encounter with the strikeforce... Unless you are skilled, You are a very very dead player.
