Battle Points!!!

One starts at 0 points at can only lose lose down to -6
Battle points would be used to purchase special rockets, maybe slightly tweaked ships and differeing trade goods from the Military or whatever.
When on kills someone who has not dropped to their -6 stage yet, they will gain a point(now, one char can only give another player points down to -6)once a char reaches 10 points they lose 2 when they die to another player and that other player gains 2 points, as ones point pool raises so does their output to those that kill them, once one has enough points they may then purchase certain things like stated above, add this with a new char creation change making one able to delete a char only after a week of that char having been created....adapted this would make pvp more fun, as is pvp is pointless unless you are a pirate, and by the way things looks, very litte profit there as well...sooo

Really though PVP needs to be focused a little more

I agree DarkCreed, although I don't know if "Battle Points" would be the way to do it (although that is a pretty neat idea). I would rather have an actual RP reason for focused PvP, namely the ability to take over a station, or convoy vs. pirate missions.

But then again, some guys friend can go to a unclaum sector station, home there, buy a bus, and let his friend shoot the bus down many times to get many battle points here.

I think there could be an exploit found there.

that is why one may only lose up to 6 points at -6 no one gains any points off that char untill that char kills another and raises his status, in the end the battle points would not be spent so much as at a certain amount of them they would give that person access to a few differing variances of ships and weapons, and in the end there will only be so many points available. the only way to add more points into the battlepoints "economy" is to create a new char, which is why i would suggest a 2 week period of time before a created char may be deleted, the fact of the matter is that we have plenty of char slots, there is no reason to be able to delete immediately anyhow. For roleplay value, when one reaches a certain amount of points they may gain special titles on the char profile depending on their nation and or faction standings. Names like scourge of the north star, protectorate of the Itani empire, stuff like that, all that i am proposing is not fully fleshed out, but a simple rough draft for trying to make the pvp more inviting to more chars and rewarding to winners without taxing money and the sort from traders

I think I can see where this is pointed. In another thread it seemed like the goal was to bully or punish other players. It seams like what is being sought here is some sort of tangible reward for success in battle beyond watching them explode. Definitely a good idea.

Let me throw something into the mix. At present we have C/L/H/T. DC is is suggesting a fifth category, B for battle points. I'd suggest that BP's would be acquired from a player with points equal to or greater than another. Hence there is no advantage in picking a fight with a less accomplished player/fighter.

Those who chose to focus on PvP would have access to weapon X, bragging rights, and other mission trees.
The peaceful traders would have no value to them beyond the cargo they carry.
Low BP's could also open access to a different set of equipment and missions.

Perhaps at -999 BP a wandering Itani monk will lay a tatami mat in your small weapons slot and give you that shield that so many folks have been asking for.
