gate turrets

I would like to suggest gate turrets in controlled sectors, which attack any "pirate" entering turret controlled space
Because whilst warping in my sector doing trade runs, checking map to go to the cargo pick up, a player decided that I should die, did I stand a chance (2,2,1,1) against a player who is "Quiet" and likes "Suicide" NO, was I warned to drop cargo NO, do I enjoy pvp in every sector NO, has this player said that he warns players before killing Yes, am I going to take time away from this game to look for another game that isn't pvp driven Yes, I would like at least some sectors that are non pvp for new players to be safe in so they can lvl up, instead of spending credits replacing their ships all the time. I am hoping that this game is not going to be pvp driven as atm that is the impression I am getting, and it is annoying, if I want to fight/hunt it should be my choice to kill or be killed, and in my own controlled space I should not have to be prepared to die by a Vet who should know better to keep players interested instead of getting frustrated because they are getting wasted as soon as they wormhole into a sector.
I'll be back in a few days to see what happens after the new update and yes I'm frustrated/pissed off etc, bloody annoying when I'm trying to lvl so I can go hunt the scum stopping us traders from making a living let alone making a profit from trade runs, I'm a trader its my nature to provide for the masses
** sorry, went off topic **

Were you in gray space when this happened? If so... yeah, that's gray space for you. The only reason he's wormhole camping is because it's impossible to pirate otherwise. Hopefully with the new update homers will be toned down and cargo ships will be slower, allowing for a call to drop cargo. Right now a call to drop cargo results in homer spam and a fleetly fleeing Atlass or Centaur that you can't possibly catch.

You make the choice to kill/be killed when entering gray space. If you were killed in your nation's territory then yeah, that's a problem.

So, nerf the trader weapon so that pirates have the chance to ask for cargo nicely? Sorry, I'm not buying that argument. We've already lost a good number of newbs who have gotten fed up "getting wasted as soon as they wormhole into a sector."

Back on topic: gate turrets might not be a bad idea, it actually fits in with the backstory to a certain extent. Like starfisher said, if you were in gray space then there's nothing your nation can do for you, but if you were in your own nation's monitored space then there should have been someone/something there to defend you. Azek J1 in particular seems to be a problem spot for the UIT, you can almost count on there being a few pirates lying in wait at that wormhole. Perhaps in all nation wormhole sectors that do not have a station there could be a defense turret that fired the frigate gun.

For a quick fix I would recommend warning beacons. Let players know that they are entering a potentially dangerous region of space. Then if they die they will not be quite as surprised and frustrated.

I was worming into Azek from Dau, my home sector doing the cargo missions from the mission screen, seems to me that I will stick to the cargo runs that go to Arta until that wormhole gets camped as well

Turret in the controlled space would go with what I read on the story and if I was commander in Chief of my controlled space I would have turrets at gates reading transponders of the the ships entering my controlled space to ensure good faction to my kinsmen and allies

Just a note, if you want to be safe doing trading runs, probably Serco or Itani is the way to go, as those territories seem to be strongly protected.

Phaser, I would be an "honorable" pirate if I had the option. Right now I don't. It's not possible to pirate without the ganking, at least not successfully or without homerspam of your own.

Remember back in the old universe when wormhole campers were abhorred and ridiculed? Few did it after the initial community backlash. Why do you think that changed?

Wormhole camping is the only way left to pirate. Once more skillful options exist expect to see pirates moving away from the boring kill, or at least being flamed by those who do it "honorably."

Plus, it's not a "nerf." It's balance. The homers right now are "broken", according to a1k0n. So they're going to get toned down.
