Naming ships would be fun. Add a little bit of flavor to the game. And instead of have our personal ship's picture on the right side of the HUD, have the target's ship and stats there. Then move the money, armor %, and mass to the upper right.
I think the player info page should also have ship info—what kind of ship you have, the name, and so on. Maybe a list of all the ships you own down at the bottom (scrolling, obviously ^_^)?

How would you prevent people from giving their ships inappropriate names?

How about adding visitable planets?
As far as I know this issue had already been discussed, but still it would add a great deal of content to the game (IMO).
And please, don't make some hideous elevator system...
it would be nice if it was possible to enter the planet like in the real world - I mean through the atmosphere and then it is gradually possible to see the planet's surface.... and whatever comes next.
Also, a "planet menu" (like in "Freelancer" - where planets only have menus - you cant explore the planet) would be a crappy choise for a planet's interface.... I think it would be better to make landing pads on the planets (and lets not forget the cities, the buildings, the landscapes that a planet should have) that will be used as aircraft bases.
I think that this would take a lot of work - and I wouldn't mind to wait even a year for an update like this to come out, becuase it would add a lot to the game in terms of content (again, IMO).

Territory that changes hands.
This will entail also that certain territories, like sol 2, itan, dau, and even odia can never be taken over. To make this fun, It will involve missions were the player joins a task force to defend either a station or a station killer capitol ship/ships that im sure the devs might have fun designing, and possibly each faction has a different one. and to make things more interesting, it will take a week of bombardment to destroy most stations. but a mission like this will give the player the notion that they are "part of something"
I know fabricating is on the way, but as for ingredients, we could a a new aspect to mining: CRYSTALS. rare, worth more than regular ore, useable (when fabbing comes available), and more obtainable when an asteroid gets "boiled". of course different minerals in a roid will determine different kinds of crystals(except for aquean. thats water duh. and btw, shouldnt ice crystals be destroyed when they reach 373k???)

Who's to say I can't name my ship "Space Bitch"? Face it, if you met a pirate unsentimental enough to name his Corvus Vulturius that, would you even bother begging for your life?

This isn't so much a suggestion for any particular piece of content, but a general suggestion. Build upon and enrich the backstory. Give us missions to seek out the hidden Arkanese base, to find new wormholes - prevent one side or another from establishing new forward bases in greyspace, etc. More content that promotes opportunity for pvp.
I firmly believe the devs should concentrate their efforts on improving what makes this game unique - it's the only good pvp-centric sci-fi based multiplayer wargame out there. As a bonus it has great opportunities for storyline based roleplay. Add content that enriches the experience. There are tons of carebear crafting games, racing games, twiddlywink clickfests, and other non-combat oriented MMORPGs out there - this is one of the few that is pvp from its core. Strengthen the core, please!
I heard a disturbing rumor in the RPG forum that a dev was adding content to promote some sort of race through both Serco and Itani space ala the player created Deneb Run. I sincerely hope that is a false rumor. The very idea goes against so much of the published backstory. If you add that type of content you might as well throw Section XII (at least) into the garbage can.
I'd hope that effort would be put in to repair the CTC events (surplus is too influential and the serco transports have to go through one of the biggest pvp zones in the game while the itani transports go through largely untraveled areas). Even with its flaws it is fun and engaging. Give us more content like this please!

I'm working on many missions right now that are Akanese oriented. granted, it's not as good as if the Akanese had their own system on the map but it's a step. Missions for Serco and Serco sympahtizers as well as people who RP Akanese or Itani sympathetic to the Akanese cause. Here's a list of what I have working on currently:
"Renegade CommDrone" - We have found a link in the Akense communications system. Destroy that CommDrone!
This is basically an espionage style mission, take out the CommDrone so the Akanese communications sytem is down for a while until the Drone is replaced and redeployed n a different area. This is a Serco mission.
"Privateering for the order" - Akanese Command wants you to disrupt supply lines to the Serco. THis may include attacks against the Union and their Corps.
Exactly what it says: Pirating for the order of Akan, hit and run Serco convoys as to disrupt supplies. May include attacks in Union and Serco space, on top of grey space and itani space. This is an Akanese mission.
"Explosive Cargo" - Brother Monk of Akan, it is your duty to deliver these to your destination and leave.
Terrorist mission. Drop cargo off at a BioCom station, a known Serco sympathizer and run off before the cargo detonates. This is an Akanese mission.
"Attack on Edras Command Re-enactment" - A memorial to the fifty-four lost five years ago to an attack by the Akanese.
This is a UIT/Itani mission, ripped from my own player created background. Around the late 4420s, I said my character partaked in an attack on the UIT outpost in Edras, in retaliation for an Arms deal the UIT Senate approved to supply ever growing amounts of weapons to the Serco. Since this is a past event, a memorial reenactment (like the Civil War reenactments) is the best way I thought at the time to fit it into the modern timeline.
"Scout for the Akanese" - Intelligence points to Jallik holding the gateway to Querkos, the Aknese home system. Find the wormhole.
Exactly like you said. This mission was originally intended to send one into Jallik, the place where I believed the Akanese wormhole to be reasonably, but will obviously be changed by Dev decree. At worst, I may just make the mission branch of with buttons, allowing one to search Jallik, Edras or Pelatus, with varying degrees of resistance the closer one gets to Itani space.
Please, all mission ideas and suggestions are welcome. I have too much time on my hands for a while XD

It'd be nice too if some group missions could be made - maybe something like: group takes mission to attack planet/moon/roid base in enemy territory, friendly npc forces provide anti-base weaponry and must be escorted; once the mission is taken, a notice goes out on some in-game channel and a defending mission becomes available for opposing nation group. If no one takes the mission prior to border crossing, npcs form the opfor. Could chain the missions to so that you could only participate in more advanced group missions if you had successfully completed an earlier one in the chain. This would provide more incentive for opposing players to take the opfor mission so that they could then qualify for a counterattack mission later.

First sorry if this question has been asked before. I did look though the FAQ and common threads but did not find an answer.
Are there any long threaded Missions. EG like in EV when you found out about the alien race and it took many mission to revel this. Perhaps another way to word this would be campains. Are these missions in the game?

Ivan: Not yet, but some are already beginning to appear in their early stages, examples being the XanXi and TPG faction missions, and the Corporate Espionage substring.
Just a small thing I've been wondering how about a greyscale or a small color pallet for the base color of you ship?
This would allow a little more personalization without getting out of control + allow guilds to spot friends on sight regaurdless of what the hud displays.

I'm not sure if this has been posted but i wanted to put down before i forgot it. Another good thing to add to the game would be a galaxy wide "AH" or Auction House. This would allow easier trading between players. Another thing would be to add gunship, cruisers, battleships, and shields to the game; and to implement bigger fiery explosions, with visible shockwaves coming out of them.
