Hi guys,

I've just started playing the game due to the Oculus Rift support. Here are some thoughts.

- The experience is well worth it. The game looks rather dated in 2D but, introduce the OR, and you've got an incredibly immersive experience.

- Drift is terrible, even with the latest OR SDK. Binding the centering command to a key helps alleviate the problem but it's still very noticeable and requires use every minute or two, not the 15 claimed by the devs.

- The fact that the HUD follows your view is immersion-breaking. HUDs in space games should feel like they're part of the cockpit, not glued to your eyes. I would think that this can easily be remedied without seriously affecting the functionality of the HUD (a good example of this is the OR port of FTP space game "Star Conflict", which, by the way, is pretty fantastic, if not a true MMORPG).

- OR space games are really meant to be played through a cockpit view. The first and third-person views are serviceable but immersion would be greatly enhanced by having cockpits.

I realize that the Dev team is probably small and therefore some of these insights are more "nice to have" than "must have" but at least the drifiting issue should be addressed ASAP. Having said all this, I'm impressed enough with the port to OR to subscribe for a while at least.

Thanks to the Dev team for this, by the way. My dream of being a space pilot is one step closer to reality :) Keep up the good work guys !

Thanks!

The HUD is not supposed to follow your view. I believe you are in mouse-look mode which would explain that issue. Turning off mouse-look mode should fix that but then the mouse flight model works a bit differently then.

We are aware of the cockpit issue but like you said, we are a very small team and don't have many resources to create different cockpits for each ship.

I'm still not sure why the drift is so bad. We use all the suggested APIs to try to eliminate it but for whatever reason it just doesn't want to go away.
