Sometimes lose keyboard focus when switching to fullscreen (ubuntu 8.04)
Running VO in windowed mode.
Window has focus.
Hit alt-enter to go fullscreen.
Goes fullscreen, but doesn't react to the keyboard.
Mouse still works. If in station menu can use options to switch back to windowed...
Don't always get the problem... about 50/50, not sure exactly how to reproduce it every time.

Thats an Ubuntu bug, I have had it happen with more than Vendetta, and since switching back to a regular Debian, I've never had it happen.
You were lucky that you had a menu on screen that you could use, becuase if this happnens in space, with an enemy in sector, you are screwed. (Killing X is the only way to get back to the desktop, and this leaves you in space, for 60 seconds).

You don't have to kill X. Ctrl+Alt+F1 to get to virtual terminal, log in and 'killall vendetta' then Alt+F7 or whatever to get back to X.
