TGFT will again be hosting the Deneb Run this Sunday. However, the STARTING TIME WILL BE DIFFERENT! It will now begin at Midnight GMT (1 hour earlier than last week's run). Check /time if you are confused about GMT.

All citizens are welcome to race, there is no entrance fee, and 2 Million credits in prizes are available, possibly more. Some of it could be yours, but only if you race!

Once again, the rules are:

1) Racers must race from Odia M14 through Deneb heading clockwise back to Odia M14.
2) Race starts in Odia M14 near the station.
3) Contestants must be within 100m of me before the start
4) No shooting before I start the race.
5) You die and you're out (so no /exploding)
6) All weapons and ships allowed.
7) First person to get back and dock at Odia M14 wins the first prize. (1 million creds)
8) Second person back gets 600k
9) Third person gets 400k

Obviously, a Fast Charge battery and decent ship is recommended.

As an added incentive, TGFT is offering a 1 million credit BONUS prize for the winner if they can beat _ghost_'s record time of 26:55.

An atom walks into a bar and says, "Has anyone seen my electron?"

The bartender says, "Are you sure it's missing?"

The atom replies, "Yeah, I'm positive!"

------------

Due to a shortage of electrons, tonight's race was cancelled. Please tune into the Deneb Run #12 next week at Midnight GMT.

Racers, tune your engines and study your maps! Race fans, load those snacks and drinks into your Hover Boy MkIV Recliners!

The Deneb Run #12 is going to be more exciting than ever before because EnB has decided to co-sponsor the race with TGFT, and that means the racers will be competing for DOUBLE THE PRIZE MONEY!

The winner of the Deneb Run #12 will now receive 2 million credits, the second place finisher will now receive 1.2 million credits, and the third place finisher will now receive 800,000 credits. That's 4 million credits to be awarded this weekend, and some of it could be yours, but only if you race...

The Deneb Run is now over. We've seen an amazing show of navigation and piloting skills and both Screwball of the Free Traders Guild and Miharu have provided us with great commentary of the ongoing race. For all those who were unable to take part in this event, we've prepared some photos of the brave racers, waiting for the race to start:

The winner of this edition of Deneb Run was MonkOfAkan, congratulations. We should also mention Red Cow, who attempted to finish the race in an EC-88 bus, but was destroyed by the shameless Itani strike forces.

Returning pilots have been welcomed by fireworks sponsored by the Corvus Strike Forces Entertainment Wing and could take part in additional Scrap Collecting Challenge:

Unfortunately a serious lag spike interrupted the party:

We hope to see you during the next edition of Deneb Run!

TGFT and EnB proudly bring you the results of The Deneb Run #12

Earlier this week, EnB joined TGFT as race co-sponsor, doubling the prize money to 4 million credits. Whether it was the added prize money, or the ion storms interfering with people's brainwaves, you won't believe what happened...

The Pilots
-------------
Seven racers arrived at Corvus Hold, one looking to defend his winning streak, some racing for the first time, and others looking for the elusive glory of victory.

Dragon of Fire: The Commander of EnB and an enigma... a Serco flying in the pride of the Itani fleet, an IDF Valkyrie Vigilant. With two solid wins in the last two races, he is clearly the pilot to beat.

Alanon: An Itani and Council member of EnB, he flies a Valkyrie Vengeance. Will this veteran racer be content to let his commander win again, or will he go for the win himself?

Smarvin: An Itani and loyal Lieutenant of EnB, he flies an IDF Valkyrie Vigilant. Will he help EnB sweep the race?

MonkofAkan: An Itani, veteran racer, and member of the newly formed Cerberes Defense Council, he flies a Valkyrie Vengeance. He has sworn to bring home the victory for the Itani people, but had to settle for 2nd place last week against Dragon of Fire.

Red Cow: A Serco who only recently received his pilot's license, he flies a stock EC-88. He is attracted by the prize money and hopes to add to his almost 200 credit bank account.

Malo: A citizen of the UIT, also new to racing, he flies a Vulture MkI and hopes for the best.

Martin: A citizen of the UIT, former host of the Deneb Run turned racer, and former EnB member, he flies an IDF Valkyrie Vigilant. Martin is a highly experienced pilot, but has suffered recurring problems from a balky navigation computer. Will he be able to keep pace with the pack and claim some of the glory he used to bestow?

The Race
------------
The race began much like any other race. After checking in at Corvus Hold, the pilots followed the host's ship, a Tunguska Centaur Aggresso sporting TGFT green, out to a point where the gravitational fields are weak enough to allow sector-to-sector warp to function. Floating in space, the pilots studied each other's ships while listening to a review of the rules. Once everything was ready, the race was officially started with the customary firing of the host's guns, followed by the brilliant light of a flurry of warp bubbles opening in close proximity.

Most pilots opted to detour through various empty sectors to avoid the asteroid belt between Corvus Hold and the wormhole to Sedina, while Malo and Smarvin took a gamble and flew the direct route. Unfortunately, the gamble did not pay off, and Malo and Smarvin quickly found themselves caught in an ion storm.

MonkofAkan was first into Sedina, closely followed by Dragon of Fire and Alanon, then Martin. Smarvin and Malo were through next, followed by Red Cow. As the first four pilots headed through B8, things started to heat up when MonkofAkan fired a triple salvo of Sunflare rockets into Dragon of Fire, shaving off about 30% of his hull.

Dragon of Fire arrived in Latos just ahead of Alanon, who was just ahead of MonkofAkan. Martin jumped through next, but his navigation computer was already acting up and causing him to fall behind the main pack. Meanwhile, Malo hit another ion storm in Sedina, allowing Smarvin to solidify his #5 position and Red Cow to take over the #6 position.

The order remained unchanged as the racers entered Ukari. By the time they got to Initros, though, Alanon had taken the lead and Malo retook 6th position from Red Cow.

As the pilots entered Initros, some were quickly joined by Serco Race Escorts and a few autograph seekers. MonkofAkan, Martin, and Smarvin all encountered ion storms in Initros, falling further behind the leaders and allowing Malo to pass both Smarvin and Martin.

Coming out of Initros, Alanon warped into Rhamus seconds before Dragon of Fire warped into Pyronis. A little while later, Malo and Martin warped to Pyronis, while Red Cow arrived in Initros and Smarvin warped into Rhamus.

Alanon made it to Dantia first with Dragon of Fire a few seconds behind. Shortly thereafter, MonkofAkan then Malo warped in, followed by Martin, then Smarvin. Meanwhile, Red Cow was just entering Pyronis.

Alanon continued to hold the lead going into Sol II, followed closely by Dragon of Fire. Malo continued his impressive passing streak and took over 3rd place entering Sol II as MonkofAkan hit a time consuming storm in Dantia. Smarvin passed Martin and MonkofAkan to enter Sol II in 4th, while Martin passed MonkofAkan for 5th.

The order was the same as the racers entered Betheshee. Once in Betheshee, though, Dragon of Fire, passed Alanon to retake the lead, while Malo caught up to Alanon and was flying side by side. Meanwhile, MonkofAkan was closing the gap on Martin and Smarvin, and Red Cow was entering Sol II.

Dragon of Fire entered Geira Rutilus a few seconds ahead of Alanon and Malo, who were essentially tied. Malo, hoping to capitalize on his close proximity to Alanon, opened fire with his Vulture's twin neutron blasters. He quickly realized that he would need the energy for his turbo boosters, though, and broke off the attack. Shortly thereafter, Malo warped into what would turn out to be the first of three consecutive ion storms in Geira Rutilus. Smarvin was next into Geira Rutilus, followed by MonkofAkan who passed Martin. Meanwhile, Red Cow had entered Betheshee.

Dragon of Fire continued the lead going into Deneb, with Alanon close behind. Smarvin took over 3rd place, with MonkofAkan 4th. It's unclear whether Martin or Malo was next. However, getting out of Deneb proved to be costly for Dragon of Fire who attracted a crew of Itani Race Escorts and nearly died.

This order continued as the racers passed through Eo, and Cantus. Just as things seemed to be settling down, Malo was killed in Cantus at the hands of an Itani named Ory'Hara. Meanwhile, Red Cow was just getting into Deneb.

Shortly thereafter, Martin in 5th place was attacked by Ory'Hara in Metana and escaped with only 23% of his hull remaining. In the lead, Alanon and Dragon of Fire were neck and neck entering Setalli Shinas, with Smarvin in 3rd and MonkofAkan in 4th.

Just as Alanon was taking the lead from Dragon of Fire entering Itan, Red Cow died at the hands of an Itani strike force in Deneb. Alanon extended his lead as they passed through Pherona and Artana Aquilus while Martin ran into a storm in Itan. Dragon of Fire retook the lead going into Divinia, and held it through Jallik. Alanon ran into 2 ion storms in Jallik but managed to hold onto 2nd place.

Just as it looked like Dragon of Fire had it won, UIT citizen Captain 'Nice' Hardrive ambushed him in Edras and finished what the Itani strike forces had started. Perhaps blinded by tears after the sudden death of his commander, Alanon misread the navigation charts and soon found himself in Verasi. Meanwhile in Edras, Smarvin suddenly found himself in 1st place, while MonkofAkan took over 2nd, and Martin moved up to 4th place in Jallik.

Smarvin's good fortune was short lived, though, as he was promptly killed by Captain 'Nice' Hardrive while trying to enter Pelatus. This left MonkofAkan in the lead, while Alanon recovered his senses and saved his 2nd place spot, and Martin suddenly found himself in 3rd place.

MonkofAkan proceeded though Pelatus, Bractus, and Odia to claim the win, and was escorted from the Odia wormhole into Corvus Hold by Dr. Lecter. Alanon ran into one more storm in Odia, but managed to hold on to 2nd place. Martin, with his 23% hull, completed the journey to Corvus Hold to claim 3rd place.

For their efforts, MonkofAkan won the 2 million credit first prize, Alanon won the 1.2 million credit second prize, and Martin won the 800k credit third prize.

On behalf of TGFT and EnB, we would like to thank all of the participants and loyal race fans. We hope to see you again next weekend for The Deneb Run #13. Official race statistics can be found at the end of this broadcast.

1st place should have been mine!! (And now that I think about it, if I just took a teenie-tiny stop on my way through Jallik, I would have lived through Captains ambush.)

And for a second it looked like EnB was going to have a sweep :P. (Until Captain killed me and smarvin and Alanon took a wrong turn.)

Monk you will not hold the championship for very long!!!
