Deneb Run #22

Nov 25, 2005 moldyman link
TGFT and EnB will again be hosting The Deneb Run this weekend at 2 AM GMT Sunday. Please check /time if you are confused about GMT.

I will be continuing the No Valks rule this week. However, we will be returning to the traditional CLOCKWISE race around the universe.

All citizens are welcome to race, there is no entrance fee, and 4 Million credits in prizes are available. Some of it could be yours, but only if you race!

Once again, the rules are:

1) Racers must race from Odia M14 through Deneb heading clockwise back to Odia M14.
2) Race starts in Odia M14 near the station.
3) Contestants must be within 100m of me before the start
4) No shooting before I start the race.
5) You die and you're out (so no /exploding)
6) All weapons and ships allowed, except Valks.
7) First person to get back and dock at Odia M14 wins the first prize. (2 million credits)
8) Second person back gets 2nd place prize (1.2 million credits)
9) Third person back gets 3rd place prize (800k credits)
10) No Valkyries allowed.

Obviously, a Fast Charge battery and decent ship is recommended.

Please reply to this thread if you intend to race.

And for the next two races, I'll be filling in for Screwball, just so there's no confusion.

Announcing the results of The Deneb Run #22, sponsored by EnB and TGFT.

The Pilots
----------

Dragon of Fire: Serco, commander of EnB, also a seasoned veteran and repeat winner of The Deneb Run, he won second place in last week's race..

Stranger: Freelancing UIT and newcomer to the Deneb Run

Pilot 13: Returning UIT racer and freelancing miner

Joyce Sanders: UIT trader and also a bartender at the Makchuga, she last raced in Deneb Run #19

Dr. Lecter: Serco SCAR member and newcomer to the Deneb Run (racing in it anyway)

Mecha Touriuas: Serco SCAR member and newcomer to the Deneb Run (again, racing in it anyway)

The Race
--------
With the crackle of an AGT firing, the six racers took off! Erly on, it looked like the race had already been split into two groups. Mecha, Lecter and Pilot were a few seconds ahead of Joyce, Stranger and Dragon of Fire. The racers started to break up in Sedina, however, as some took different routes to B-8. First into Latos was Dr. Lecter, followed by Joyce Sanders, Mecha Touriuas and then Pilot 13. Stranger and Dragon of Fire rounded it out as the leaders entered Latos B-6.

And there they met Gavan and Martin. Almost immediately, Pilot was attacked and picked off as the first casualty of the night. Five racers to go. Lecter, mecha and Joyce entered Ukari with minimal damage if any. Stranger and Dragon of Fire pulled into B-6 to meet the same two pirates. Stranger was also nicked off. Four racers left.

Dragon of Fire took a pitstop in Ukari as Mecha and Lecter hit the same storm. Joyce caught up to them as they entered Initros. Lecter and Mecha opted the Pyronis route and hit a storm in that system as Joyce took the longer but safer Rhamus route.

Dragon of Fire closed the gap with Mecha in Pyronis as Lecter crossed into Dantia. Joyce at this point was about a jump behind Lecter, but still in Dantia. As the race routes became one again, the order became apparent. Lecter had a one jump lead on Mecha. DoF was only 3,ooo meters behind Mecha and Joyce was less than one jump behind DoF.

Slowly passing by the SMV Nemisis and it's infamous lag cannons, Lecter entered Betheshee with no problem and would pull ahead. The gaps widened as Lecter netered Deneb, Mecha was just leaving Geira and DoF entering it. Joyce was about 5k meteres behind DoF and exiting Betheshee.

Lecter may have hit a storm in Deneb, allowing all the racers behind to gain a few seonds. Lecter was just entering Eo about ten seconds ahead of the now tied Mecha and DoF. Joyce was left Serco space behind and was trying to catch up to the now close race for the top three spots.

Lecter was trying to pull away again as he entered Setalli Shinas, Mecha was in Metana at this point and Joyce and DoF were closely racing in cantus. Mecha was only 7k behind Lecter as they both entered Pherona. And then, they met the pirate mr. spuck in Artana. Mecha tried to bob and weave but in the end,....pirates for the win. Mecha was eliminated from the race leaving only 3 racers.

Lecter was in Jalilk, making a pitstop as Joyce pulled a jump ahead of DoF in Divinia. Lecter hurried his pit crew and jumped back into his warthog to go into Edras. But, alas, the pirates had met him again. Without a word, he left the group and was confirmed killed by the pirates. This left Joyce and Dragon of Fire.

Closely, they raced through pelatus but again the pirates would strike.. Dragon of Fire managed to escape with about 30% of his hull left, but Joyce was eliminated. DoF rushed through Odia as some of the former racers helped him against the pirates. With minimal resistance ain Odia M-14, he docked for the win.

The Stats
---------

Dragon of Fire | 39:23 | Orion Hornet, no weps, fc batt
Stranger | DNF | Orion Hornet, 4x Orion Phase Blaster XGX, fc batt
Pilot 13 | DNF | Centurion Mk2, no weps, fc batt
Dr. Lecter | DNF | Warthog Mk2, Megaposi, fc batt
Mecha Touriuas | DNF | Serco Vulture Guardian, no weps, fc batt
Joyce Sanders | DNF | Orion Hornet, no weps, fc batt

Interesting observations:

1) This is the deadliest Deneb Run thusfar, with 83% of the racers perishing before reaching the finish line.

2) Not a single Itani raced this time.

3) All the kills on the racers were made by three UIT pirates: Gavan, Martin and mr. spuck

Um, you copied and pasted didn't you?

"Dragon of Fire: Serco, commander of EnB, also a seasoned veteran and repeat winner of The Deneb Run, he was one of the victims of last week's race massacre."

I came in second last week.
