TGFT and EnB will again be hosting The Deneb Run this weekend at 2 AM GMT Sunday. Please check /time if you are confused about GMT.

2) Race starts in Odia M14 near the station.
3) Contestants must be within 100m of me before the start
4) No shooting before I start the race.
5) You die and you're out (so no /exploding)
6) All weapons and ships allowed, except those listed in #10.
7) First person to get back and dock at Odia M14 wins the first prize. (2 million credits)
8) Second person back gets 2nd place prize (1.2 million credits)

Screwball, just a warning that since I am no longer Commander of EnB, and I'm the one who basically kept the EnB side of the DR going, I'm not sure if they'll be co-hosting anymore.

Anyway I will be racing tonight, will be my first race outside of EnB.

Maybe it'll be your first race INSIDE of [Itan], Dragon.
Perhaps [Itan] will sweep 1-2-3-4 tonight.

Well, if I make it. Harpo? Monk? You racing?

And if the prize money is only 1 million... uhoh.

Thanks for the warning Dragon.

I have already initiated discussions with current representatives of EnB as to whether or not they wish to continue sponsorship of The Deneb Run. While we await a response, TGFT has agreed to keep the prize money at 4 million credits total this week, even if we end up eating the entire cost.

GAH. Missed it. (&!%$@# Xmas shopping...)

Who won?
Dec 10, 2005 Screwball link
Gah, I'm way too tired to post any write up at the moment. I get to it tomorrow. However, to answer your question...

Joyce Sanders won it! I'll keep you in suspense about the rest.

Announcing the results of The Deneb Run #24, sponsored by TGFT and EnB.

The Pilots
----------

MonkofAkan: Itani, a seasoned veteran racer and guest host of The Deneb Run #22, he holds the record for the most wins of The Deneb Run.

Dragon of Fire: Serco, now part of the Coalition of Itan, also a seasoned veteran racer and repeat winner of The Deneb Run,

Joyce Sanders: UIT trader, bartender at the Makchuga, and last week's guest host of The Deneb Run, she last raced in Deneb Run #22.

Krashis Merala: Serco, a veteran racer in The Deneb Run.

Stranger: UIT, he previously raced in The Deneb Run #22.

The Race
--------
[stay tuned]

The Stats
---------

Joyce Sanders | 35:26 | Warthog MkII, no weps, fc batt
Krashis Merala | DNF | Orion Hornet, fc batt, no weaps
Stranger | DNF | Orion Hornet, fc batt, 2x neut2, 2x gemini
MonkofAkan | DNF | Orion Hornet, fc batt, no weaps
Dragon of Fire | DNF | Orion Hornet, fc batt, no weaps

Interesting observations:

1) The pirates were >< close to killing 100% of the racers. Props to Root Baba, Mr. Spuck, and Fooz2916.

2) When pilots DNF, I display them above in "last to die is highest" order, which is not necessarily how they might have finished if they survived.

You're telling me. /me starts to think of packing weapons from now on...
Dec 11, 2005 Dark Knight link
Hehe. You'll notice the winner was in a Hog. Smaller target, same speed.

Just so that everyone knows I died due to a bug, see the bug forums for more details.
Dec 11, 2005 Dark Knight link
Ah, classic example of the pilot psyche. Always something else to blame when they get vaped. Usually the hardware.
Dec 11, 2005 LeberMac link
When I die, I usually blame other players. If no other players were present, I usually blame tequila.
Dec 11, 2005 DragonEmpire link
Dark Knight I'm not blaming anything, I've died many times before during the race and I've never pointed blame to anyone, and I'm not about to start now.
