- etc.

Example: If 1 racer finishes, the player that had the last kill of a racer will receive a 1.2 million credit prize, and the player that had the 2nd most recent kill would receive 800k credits.

Alrighty, we had great turnout for a normal race, let alone a race on Christmas Eve. Let's meet our Holiday racers.

The Racers
---------

Demonor - SKV member, This is his Second race.

Joyce Sanders - Makchuga bartender and repeat racer in the Deneb Run. She won 1st place in Deneb Run #24

iTripped - TGFT member, an on and off racer in the CSR and the Deneb Run

Mecha Touriuas - SCAR lieutenant, he has raced in the Deneb Run before, though he frequently, eliminates racers at the finish line instead

John Rambler - Union trader and repeat racer in the Deneb Run

Maximian - Itani TGFT member, he is new to the Deneb Run (as far as I know)

The Write Up
-----------

Flying the traditional Deneb Run kickoff ship (Centaur for those of you who don't know or don't notice), I fired my dual AGTs, sending the racers off on th holiday Run. All but one of the racers opted to take the indirect route to the Sedina wormhole, a mistake that one racer would regret later on. Mecha Touriuas hit not one, but two storms in Odia. While he waded through the sea of Arklan Guardians, Joyce Sanders and Demonor were neck and neck for 1st, as iTripped and Maximian fought for 2nd one jump behind the leaders.

Maximian and iTripped entered B-8 but only one racer got out alive. Unfortunatey, Maximian was eliminated in jump by firsm, a returning vet. I can only imagine how he cursed the semi-new jump vulnerability. This left 5 racers. Mecha Touriuas had pulled ahead of John Rambler in Sedin, but jumped into an unmarked roid field plotting around. While all this action was happening in the backfield of Sedina, Joyce Sanders and Demonor had entered Ukari, still jockeying for 1st place.

Demonor entered Initros at this point, as Joyce fell to a jump behind. iTripped was a jump behind her as mecha was a jump behind him. The racers continued on, Joyce opting the Rhamus route while everyone else took the more popular Pyronis route. Demonor extended his lead to two jumps over Joyce Sanders as he entered Sol II just as she entered Dantia. John Rambler was entering Initros, a few good systems behind the pack. As Demonor proceeded into Betheshee, Joyce entered Sol II, with iTripped and Mecha now in Dantia.

Demonor entered Deneb a little while later, leaving Joyce behind in Geira. Corection: Looks like John Rambler also took the Rhamus route, still a few systems behind everyone else. Joyce Sanders extended her hold of 2nd place to a solid one jump lead over iTripped as she entered Deneb after Demonor. Demonor entered Cantus, now with a solid three jump lead on Joyce Sanders. Mecha Touriuas entered Geira O-4 and began to complain of is nation's capship and it's infamous Lag Cannons.

And so the race continued. The pack was slowly catching up to Demonor, Joyce only approximately one and a half jumps behind him as he entered Itan. And now things would heat up once more. Demonor reported after the race that he had hit THREE storms and had a massive lag spike while loading to Itan P-6. All these factors allowed Joyce to not only catch up to him, but to overtke him into Pherona. iTripped and Mecha were now entering Itan, ith John Rambler just now entering Deneb.

Neck and neck they fought. Through Pherona, Artana Aquilus, Divinia, Jalilk and Edras, Demonor and Joyce Sanders strived to get some sort of lead over their competitor. Mecha and iTripped were having a similar fight as they followed one or two jumps behind the lead pack. But through a combination of storms and pirates, Mecha would fall behind iTripped and Joyce behind Demonor. Demonor left Pelatus and hurried through Bractus to Corvus Hold. Joyce had fallen to two jumps behind but continued on, safely in second as iiTripped was just entering Peltus. Mecha was still entangled in an unmarked roid field in Edras. Demonor pulled into M-14 first to take the win. About 30 seconds later, a heavily damaged Joyce Saanders pulled in for 2nd place. iTripped came in about 30 seconds after her for 3rd. Mecha pulled in for fouth about 2 minutes after all this. John Rambler was just entering Artan Aquilus and decided to /explode back home instead of trudge his way.

Good race to all. Happy Holidays! And remember, next Saturday is New Year's Eve. No Deneb Run as I will be nowhere near grey space (with no intention of coming down there either) and I'm sure Screwball will be busy partying :)

The Results
----------

Demonor | 34:15 | Warthog Territorial Defender with FC Battery and no weapons
Joyce Sanders | 34:59 | Warthog Mk2 with an FC Battery and 1x Chaos Swarm Missiles
iTripped | 35:27 | Orion Hornet Convoy Guardian with an FC Battery and no weapons
Mecha Touriuas | 37:43 | Warthog Mk2 with an FC Battery and no weapons
John Rambler | DNF (Artana Aquillius) | Centurion Mk4 with an FC BAttery and 1x Nuetron Blaster
Maximian | DNF (Sedina) | Warthog Mk2 with an FC Battery and no weapons

Interesting Observations
---------------------

1) Four of the six racers used Warthoogs of various Marks, a first since the domination of these races by the Orion Hornet Convoy Guardian

2) While there were pirates along the route, no one died to them. One racer died during a jump in Sedina B-8 and the other exploded home before the end of the race.

LOOKSIES! ZE WRITEUP!

PS - I can do the writeups if you want Screwball >.> <.<

We should add LeberMac as the Run's traditional No-Show, just as fooz is the traditional Late Comer.

1st place went to a TD? Wow, I knew those things were fast, faster than a valk even, but i thought that the massive drain those space-suv's posess would have negated that advantage.
Dec 25, 2005 jexkerome link
I thought so too, but that extra speed kept Joyce from ever outrunning Demonor. It's bad for the wormhole jumps, but for the intersystem jumps where you have to get to 3000m, it rules.

Hi all. I'm taking a quick peek at things while at the in-laws.

Thanks for running the race this week, Monk. If you'd like to do the write-ups for previous weeks, I'd love it. I'm kinda burned out on it, but I have all the logs. I'll try to get in touch with you in-game in a day or so.

FYI, a couple of notes:

- John Rambler is also in TGFT
- Maximian first raced last week

Uhoh, that'll be a workload. Good thing I have off from school this week. Yeaah, we'll talk ingame and hopefully you can email me the logs.
Dec 27, 2005 Demonor link
Oyee!! Monk you NINNY! it was a Orion Hornet! not a TD >.< I would have lost in a TD.....TD has massive drain Duh!
Dec 27, 2005 moldyman link
>.>

You reported being in a Orion Hornet, but others saw you in a TD.

/me waits to see who was right.
Dec 27, 2005 Demonor link
Umm No way I was in a TD >.> What I have used before Orion Hornet No wep FC and thats what I did win in....there was only one more Orion Hornet....Mostly the rest were Hogs
Dec 28, 2005 jexkerome link
Odd... Joyce targeted you every time she had the time and I swear the ID was TD. There's also the fact that when running for wormholes she could see your ship gaining on hers even when she was already at full speed, which is 220 for the Warthog MkII. Had you an Orion, the distance would have remained the same; how do you account for that?
Dec 28, 2005 Demonor link
Distance can be gained by angle approach...../\ sorta like that...If I did have a TD now explain to me how did I manage each time to Jump ahead right after a WH jump? wouldnt the drain slow me down to fully charge up? which would give Joyce a quick lead?? and at every approach to the WH we both jumped at the same time with no stall being involved for reactor charge...Explain that..
Dec 28, 2005 moldyman link
/me gets a milkshake and sits back to watch the arguement ensue.
Dec 28, 2005 vIsitor link
/me follows moldy's example
Dec 29, 2005 jexkerome link
Now it becomes tricky, because from where Joyce stood you were always ahead far enough to be just a speck and warped about a second before she did, which meant you had plenty of time to get within 0m of the wormhole and wait for that FC to recharge. That also meant that when Joyce arrived on the other side you were already way ahead of her. In fact, the only time she caught up to you was due to that lag you suffered, and after that I reasoned the Drain management the only reason she kept to your tail, even as she was getting farther and farther behind with each jump, until at last that Pelatus wormhole ended the argument.

Of course, now that I think of it, difference in ping could be the explanation; mine was 92 average that day, how about yours?
