Deneb Run #41

Apr 08, 2006 Screwball link
TGFT and EnB will again be hosting The Deneb Run this weekend.

*** This race marks the 1 year anniversary of The Deneb Run! ***

*** Valkyries are allowed again! ***

*** The TIME will be 9 PM EST Saturday (which I *think* is 03:00 Sunday according the /time) ***

All citizens are welcome to race, there is no entrance fee, and 4 Million credits in prizes are available. Some of it could be yours!

Once again, the rules are:

1) Racers must race from Odia M14 through Deneb heading clockwise back to Odia M14.
2) Race starts in Odia M14 near the station.
3) Contestants must be within 100m of me before the start
4) No shooting before I start the race.
5) You die and you're out (so no /exploding)
6) All weapons and ships allowed, except those listed in #10.
7) First person to get back and dock at Odia M14 wins the first prize. (2 million credits)
8) Second person back gets 2nd place prize (1.2 million credits)
9) Third person back gets 3rd place prize (800k credits)
10) Money for killing other racers: Any pilot, racing or not, is eligible to earn money as follows:

Pre-condition #1: There must be at least 3 racers
Pre-condition #2: Less than 3 racers complete The Deneb Run
If the above pre-conditions are met, the undistributed prize money will be awarded to those who killed the racers as follows:
- Kills in the Odia M-14 sector are not eligible
- The most recent eligible kill earns the highest unawarded prize money (2 mil, 1.2 mil, 800k, or 0)
- The 2nd most recent eligible kill earns the 2nd highest unawarded prize money (1.2 mil, 800k, or 0)
- The 3rd most recent eligible kill earns the 3rd highest unawarded prize money (800k or 0)

I believe this is a good way of saying thanks to those who help spice things up for the racers, without encouraging station camping (which is too easy).

Please reply to this thread if you intend to race.

The time has chaged last week. Its -4 GMT not -5. So the new time is 10pm saturday ET.
And stop confusing people :)

Hmm, according to /time, GMT has a +6 hour offset from EST. However, my computer's time zone thingy says that GMT is supposed to only be +4 hours.

Whatever the case, the event will be at 9 PM EST.

Can someone in Europe clarify this? Is "/time GMT" really 2 hours off of "real GMT"?

I intend to be racing this weekend.

EST is 5 hours behind GMT... Atlantic is GMT-4, and Central is GMT-6 i think.

Booo, poor form on frism at the end of the race. That was very cheap, glad the rightful placers were also rewarded.

Fun race though, 2nd racer to go in a TPG maud :)

Announcing the results of The Deneb Run #41, sponsored by TGFT and EnB.

The Pilots
----------

Blue Streak: Itani, member of SB, the winningest racer in The Deneb Run.

LeberMac: Itani, council member of ITAN, it's been a while since this veteran has raced, but he's always been a very strong competitor.

BUNNY: Serco, council member and Lieutenant of SCAR, she usually leaves the other racers eating her spacedust.

Auouymous: UIT, council member of TGFT, this veteran racer has won twice and always puts in a very strong performance.

Joyce Sanders: UIT, Commander of SB, she almost always finishes, has a win, and is usually in the top 3.

Mick: UIT, another veteran racer with many strong finishes and a win under his belt.

Esson Lennenk: UIT, member of TGFT, this is only his third race, but he won The Deneb Run #40 last week.

Spaceranger: UIT, member of TGFT, he's a veteran racer with several top 3 finishes.

Otemir Ortec: Itani, member of EnB, he last raced in The Deneb Run #13.

Jack O'Niell: UIT, this was his first race.

Interesting observations:

1. Wow, this was a very competitive race. I suppose that's not a surprise when you look at the caliber of the pilots.

2. A fair number of the racers were killed by Lightening Mines while trying to dock at Corvus Hold. Using Lightening Mines at the station entrances is widely viewed as somewhere between a cheap tactic and an exploit. Thanks to Relayer for providing the would-be #2 and #3 finishers (auouymous and Spaceranger) with credits equivalent to what they would have earned if they didn't die. To be fair, she also gave a bonus to the LeberMac.

3. The Deneb Run #41 marked the 1st anniversary of The Deneb Run. Since it began a year ago, over 150 million credits in prizes have been awarded. Martin, if you're reading this, take a bow for starting a great Vendetta tradition.
