Out of respect to the many great and decent pvp'ers who proudly fought under the [SCAR] banner, I sadly reflect that the Guild that kept the flag flying for the Reds for so long now seems gone, a part of vendetta's history.
Nor should the VO community, and Itani players in specific, exult at the 'demise' of any Guild. VO is flawed if a whole nation cannot support two large guilds for lack of players. This is the whole game's loss, for VO now lacks the amount of diversity that the Sky Command Assault Regiment gave it, YOU Itani have less variety of players to fight against. 'Good riddance!', you say? SCAR were scum anyways? This is a GAME - we are all the same, supporting this unique milieu we call Vendetta - any dormant or absent Guild is a loss to us all.
True to say, by 2007, SCAR had a mixed reputation. A reputation given to it by it's enemies and detractors, who never seemed to want to allow it to be what it's founder, A-Dawg, wished, ie simply just a role playing miltary guild. This promulgated a small percentage of SCAR pilots to self-fulfill the 'Evil demi-pirate' reputation that the hitherto until now unpopular Serco nation never deserved. However, the majority of SCAR pilots were fair and decent and just wanted to enjoy the PVP, the furballs, the Nw's, and all other combat aspects of the game, just like the rest of us.
Although I unfortunately missed the peak of the Guilds activity and hence it's days of legend and glory, I saw enough of it's spirit and cameraderie to inspire me. So I laudate and toast all members of SCAR, past, present, exiled or marooned, and can do no better than give you the next post, in tribute.

THE HUNTING OF THE SMURF
a tribute to the Sky Command Assault Regiment
by sheff
with apologies to Lewis Carroll
They fought them with Vultures, they fought them with Proms;
They laced them with AGT and Neut;
They managed to avoid all the lightning-bombs;
Through the same worm-hole route.
Ships shuddered with fire, but Serco can't fail;
Though the fight was long and was hard.
They shot at every blue showing his tail
And flew through many a Valk shard.
"Look at those IBG's scooting!" the group leader said,
"Scooting for all that they're worth!"
For the 'tani's had tired of being sprayed with lead
And gave all the Proms a wide berth.
"I'm running out of money" one Serco exclaimed
"Buy more ships using guild bank"
So fought on he did, our hero unnamed--
With 1 v 1 and vs gank.
Proud and sublime, at last, after time;
They realised they'd won the whole war.
They killed Drazed-Spidey-Iry-Smittens and Slime.
But they waited and scanned-- for one more.....
They hunted, hoping for that 'in-sector' bleep.
Throughout Deneb, now Serco turf.
Forgoing trading and escorts and sleep.
Where is that last doggone Smurf?
"It's him!" was the sound that first came to their ears,
And seemed almost too good to be true.
Then followed a torrent of laughter and cheers:
Then the words "Get him, he's the last blue--"
Then, silence. Some fancied they heard in the sector
A weary and wandering hail.
Soon, boosting their ships on to the same vector,
They prepared Jackhammer, Sunflare and Rail.
The pilots were eager to capture their prey,
They all chased the last [itan] with glee;
But all of a sudden he just vanished away---
For the Smurf *was* a runner, you see.

Snif, that is poetry!
Eat your heart out Denji

Good riddance!
This is news?
[SCAR] died out ages ago--this is just a bunch of pretenders disbanding, no more notable than the dissolution of Ananzi's [BLAK]. And you got the damn name wrong: it was properly known as the Serco Cadre of Armed Renegades.
Also, a hint: it's is not a possessive form.

Another One Bites the Dust!
What is the Serco Military Guild Now? [ONE]?
Maybe the newbs should reform [SAF]. THAT was a fearsome guild.

SAF actually was the only serco guild that gave itan a run for its money... in grey, kinda sad we don't really go down there much anymore.
Spidey... Itan and SAF weren't around at the same time...
I meant the more recent SAF
The more recent SAF was laughable.
Smittens and a few other folks formed [IA] in early 2005 solely to combat the devastatingly effective [SAF] CtC control, and their general control of grayspace along with [BLAK]
Soon after [IA] was founded, [SAF] started its decline, although in all honesty [IA] had nothing to do whatsoever with the decline of [SAF]. Of course, [IA] and [IDF] later merged to form [ITAN], but that's another story.
Now, the [IA] vs. [BLAK] battles were truly epic a good deal of the time. Most of the time [IA] got its ass kicked, but it was a lot of fun regardless.
Even the [SCAR] that Lecter wistfully recalls was a pale shadow of the dominance that [SAF] enjoyed. It was truly dangerous to be Itani and exist in grayspace back then.

There has been (and probably never will be) a guild that did what SAF did. Every member was VERY active, and VERY good at shooting us poor Itani n00bs. 8v4 Itani v. SAF was an even match, and there was no better way to learn PvP then getting shot by fucking Phoenix.
Och, my times with [SAF] in late 2004/early 2005 were fun...I thank Solra greatly for giving me opportunities with that guild.
Long live the massive CtC battles, and let's wish that [ONE] will continue its role, hopefully alongside a future guild to fill the void left behind by [SCAR].

Yeah, SAF was wicked. I don't think I've ever fought stronger opponents. *shiver*
The VPR/IA vs. BLAK wars were a blast too.

Goodbye SCAR. It was fun while it lasted.
Thanks to all the pilots (of any iteration that SCAR went through) who participated. Thanks most of all to Ote Koris - While he may have given me the credit (and the Commander Tag) it was him all along. I just had the idea for the guild, he had the experience, patience and dedication to make it happen. He even thought of the original name!
Thank you Dr. Lecter: (believe it) you made it for what it was - it was the most jubilant and exciting when you were around.
Thank you once more, sheffield: We fought hard, we fought well, but alas what is done is done.

Goodbye, SCAR.
Nobody loved this guild more than I.
I was astonished by the community response to its accidental disbandment; I could have started it again with lots more membership, and indeed I nearly did so.
After discussion among the (mostly new) members as were, and knowing the thoughts of my SCAR buddies who left, I'm afraid I've decided that the path of wisdom is to let SCAR sleep.
Thanks to the old pilots of SCAR when it was strong and vicious. My efforts to carry and rebuild SCAR to the point where you might rejoin, were cut short - sorry, but maybe that's for the best. I'm afraid it's had its hayday.
Thanks to the pilots of the last days - your fealty, and your herculean efforts at becoming strong PvPers (despite being trained by a mid-table fighter at best) were worthy of medals. I know nobody from any other stage of SCAR's existence will truly understand that, but I do.
I would be honoured to fly with any of you in a future effort - but when that comes, it will be something new, popular and lots of fun, instead of trying fruitlessly to reinvigorate the corpse of the best damned guild this game has ever seen.
[SCAR] out.
