171 st Nation War

An excellent 171 st Nation War; a good turnout with some newer players joining in.

Please note that swarms and Lmines are banned from NWs due to lag problems, but that the latter are under review. Oh, and Biocom mines are too... and don't even think about bringing a pet Furie.

Please note that folk coming back to watch should be in an EC class ship, and stay 2000m from the action using zoom to watch. If you come back in anything else it makes it very difficult for the host to work out what is going on, and in extreme circumstances may lead to the disqualification of your team.

May I ask all players to stay close to their nation group and remain relatively stationary at the start, makes it easier for me to record names .

Sorry to all, but because of peypey and dameos, this NW has been declared void.

Once again, that Nation War by spoilt by the childish and irresponsible actions of Peytros and Dameos of the HAWK guild. Flying into the middle of the NW and swarming really is juvenile, and I have no intention of tolerating it.

I have run a large number of Nation Wars, statistics show that they are the most popular VO event , with many players taking the time and effort to log on specially to join in.

I apologise to the community as a whole , but I will not waste four hours a week organising NWs just to see the entire community insulted by HAWK in this way. Over the years I have been impressed by the way the community puts aside other animosities and joins in with the NW in the spirit in which it is intended : a fun event giving veterans and newer players a chance to enjoy group combat.

I therefore have no choice but to suspend the NW until this matter is resolved.

The NW is a Player run event. This issue has to be resolved by the playerbase. I have no intention of asking for any assistance in this matter from either devs or guides. I would instead suggest that all players who have over the years enjoyed flying in the NW, together with their respective guilds, take action against HAWK within the game in such a way as to impress upon them that insulting the whole community will not be tolerated.

or TGFT could just call the war off on HAWK and pay us. cause after all its not nice to kill newbs.
May 10, 2009 trolley link
now true, SCAR did the same over a year ago. however, this was for other reasons, and not to extort one guild and certainly not to ransom the whole of the game to all of the players. shame on you, peytros, u r serco in color only.

HAWK, KOS, locked n' loaded.

'Tis HAWK Season.

Aye, HAWKs in my guns.

Again, sorry from all of TGFT that NW is banned, but I have to back Ecka up that it would be a waste of his time to continue.

*/me gets ready to break the news for JE when he comes back from Spain*

Sorry to hear the Nation War has (hopefully temporarily) ended. MKBR.org is offering to arrange a meeting between the two parties in a neutral setting, with MKBR being the moderators of the discussion. If either of you are interested just let me know.

im not saying i no how to resolve this, but shooting hawk constantly wont stop them ruining any future nation wars, and stopping all future nation wars til this is resolved means they have won. Getting this attention feeds there ego, they love it.

I think the better option is to continue NW regardless of interference, though I understand your decision Ecka.

Thought: What if a nation could win the event by killing any interlopers some number of times during the event, in addition to the usual conditions?

Anyone else can start it, it's not a TGFT thing.

Just a small reminder of VO ROC:

2. You may not harass others.

Harassment is defined as specifically targeting another player or group of players to harm or inconvenience them. As harassment can take many forms, the Guide involved will make a determination as to whether or not a "reasonable person" would feel harassed and act accordingly.

3. You may not disrupt the normal playability of a sector or area.

Sector/Area Disruption is defined as any activity designed to harm or inconvenience a number of groups rather than a specific player or group of players. This includes making excessive and inappropriate use of public channels of communications.

9. "Role-playing" does not grant license to violate these rules.

Though Vendetta Online is a Role-playing game, the claim of "Role-play" will not be accepted in defense of any of the anti-social behaviors mentioned above. We strongly encourage role-playing, but cannot allow it to be done at the expense of others.

10. You may not operate a guild that habitually violates these rules.

Disciplinary issues involving guilds may be addressed with the entire guild. Guilds whose members habitually violate these rules may be issued guild warnings, and can even be permanently disbanded.

Guild Leaders and/or officers may be held accountable for any actions of their guild members, in addition to any other actions that may be taken. It is therefore the responsibility of the guild leadership to ensure that all guild members abide by these rules.

This whole thing is just a stunt for attention. peytros is pretty clearly desperate for it most likely as a result of an inferiority complex.

It's pretty sad when one person feels the need to disrupt the enjoyment of a game for a large number of others just so he can be the center of attention, but I would encourage people to just ignore HAWK rather than shoot them. Coming after them is exactly what peytros wants to happen. The attention makes him feel important, which is something that unimportant people or people who are insecure with themselves crave. So don't give him your attention. Eventually he'll grow up and maybe even mature a little. But I can tell you that the bigger deal you make out of this, the more he's going to get off on it. Sad? Yes, but unfortunately some people are just like that.

In the meantime, we could continue to have the nw in a private location with group leaders msging the info privately to their teammates. We've done it before, no reason we can't do it again. Other immature griefers have tried to harass the NW before and we just simply find a way around them. peytros is no different, just another sad case that will be forgotten in a few months.

ghost will you please stop with the personal attacks. I'm not doing this for attention. members of tgft and pa have repeatedly station killed members of HAWK for no other reason then for being associated with me, so when i bring the war to your door don't get upset and start slinging mud. Just because I'm not playing by your rules doesn't mean you have to start with the personal attacks.
May 10, 2009 Ghost link
You're disrupting a player run event and one of the few good things left in this game for your personal vendetta. An attack on the nw is not roleplaying, it's an attack on the community. If you weren't doing it for attention you wouldn't talk about it so much. And I'm not just talking about this instance. I mean the generally juvenile way that you disrupt the community. The people who have real ability and want to make a real impact don't talk about it. They don't need to. They shut up and do it. Are you honestly surprised that people who wear the same guild tag as you are station killed after you go around harassing other players? There's a motivation for everything and any wrong that's been done to you by this community I guarantee has been called for. You've got a lot to learn about the way people work.
May 11, 2009 valuial link
I agree with Ghost. And what he wrote is not a personal attack, but a conclusion out of peytros behavior, not only regarding the recent attack on the NW, but also the overall behavior. Adding to that comes contradictory behavior, first helping newbies and engaging in pro-community activities, then only a few hours later disruptive behavior in both channel 100 and gameplay, endangering the no-longer newbies but still rookies that joined HAWK because of the easy access to it. In school we learned in psychoanalytic (at least I think thats the english translation of the subjects name) that these are signs for depressions and/or other ailments and need professional attention... Thats certainly not mud to throw or joke about, its a serious issue.

About ignoring him. I myself do my best to refrain from accepting his baiting, but with about 20-30 players online at most times, I don't see it happening too soon, that he is ignored by almost everyone.

It should be made note of that the commander of HAWK has stated publicly and repeatedly that his guild is at war with all other guilds, and he wishes to cause grief to others etc.

Members of a guild are held responsible for the actions of their commander. If they do not wish to be held accountable for said actions, it is their prerogative (or rather, their duty) to leave the guild. If the commander insists on recruiting new members from the pool of newbies, then the commander knowingly and willingly decided to share responsibility for his actions with them, and subjected them to the repercussions of his actions.

It is the duty of the HAWK commander to adequately inform new members of the standing of HAWK with other guilds and the repercussions of joining his guild. If he fails to do so, he is inviting new players to his guild under false pretenses. That the commander of HAWK has failed to inform his recruits of the perils of joining a universally disliked guild is the fault of the commander and the commander alone. That HAWK members have been killed in the war that HAWK's commander instigated is, once again, the fault of HAWK's commander. It is unfortunate that the commander does not understand the responsibility of leadership.

I propose that the community inform new HAWK members of their situation. If they do not leave the guild after being fully informed of the situation, they share responsibility with their commander for his actions and shall be made KOS.

Until HAWK disbands or desists, I recommend that pilots do not /buddy (and /buddy remove) any members of HAWK, and that NW be hosted privately if the funds can be found without TGFTs support. It should be pointed out that HAWK's activity is counter to the goal of expanding VO's playerbase, and that if HAWK continues to disrupt player events indiscriminately, that their commander's ability to create and join guilds be rescinded.
May 11, 2009 Gulain link
Most of your statements are fine Aticephyr. But your timeline of events is a little off. HAWK members were targeted before any notification of war or a public KOS had been stated. While attacks are part of the game, many members where either verbally griefed or physically harassed by many other players when the guild was formed and for much time after. Until an actual war was acknowledged many members had been specifically targeted only because they were "peytros's boys", and not on any guild or personal merit. But yes as we are now in an open state of war and being actively attacked and actively attacking, all members and recruits will so be notified. If someone has a personal vendetta against the guild HAWK ... well we can't keep track of everyone in the verse.
May 11, 2009 Ghost link
I don't fault all of HAWK for one person's actions. I understand that many were deceived into joining that guild without really knowing the quality of the people they were associating themselves with. If they continue on their course though now knowing full well what they've made themselves a part of, then it's their own fault.
