Dear commanders,

I was drilling an asteroids in the confines of unclaimed space, not too far from Serco territory when I have intercepted this message. Had I been busy filtering the chaos of the cargo bay, I wouldn't have noticed the bleep on the com channel scanners.

The implications are interesting. On the 14th, I was called up for cargo assistance duty. I proceeded to the cargo's departure point in the sector of Bractus, quadrant C-5. I arrived just as transport was leaving. Somewhat unexpectedly, a number of Serco ships arrived and some of our more seasoned defenders attacked the oncoming ships. I immediately aligned behind the transports in order to provide backup shall a Serco ship got through the defenses. One did and blasted the transport. Luckily, it was an automated transport so no loss of life was reported. One of our defenders snatched up most of the precious cargo, floating in space amidst the transport's wreckage

However, one of the cargo units got captured by a Serco. I believe the Serco in question is the same than the one who transmitted this message. It's signature matches the one on the ship hull that captured the one cargo unit.

One of our defenders gave chase in an attempt to recapture the lost cargo. The transport was already warping out and had 4 other defenders with it. So I turned around and gave chase. I have managed to reached them by the time they warped out of the quadrant. I was close enough for my ship's computer to calculate their heading and so, jumped to their new location, and follow them across a worm hole. On the other side, another Itani defenders was in dog fight, slowing the Serco down.

You could see the Serco had a faster ship. But his battery drain was high. There were burnt spots on his hull and my ship's computer reported a good 30% of his hull having been blown away. During the confusion of the fight, I was able to approach myself and join the party. I've never been so afraid. I had seen that name before. I had seen him obliterate some of our best pilots too. This one probably grew up with assault weapons in his hands. My thoughts were of Toine Velaio, my son.

When I engaged, the Serco turned on me, probably thinking he could down me first and quickly and then have all his attention focused on the other defender. He evaded all my Geminis, dancing around them while shooting at me. It reminded me of our training grounds. Except this time, I was the target.

Having only recently upgraded my ship's control board to a more adequate steering system, with only limited experience with it, I somehow managed to position myself atop his centurion-derived ship (my ship's computer identified it being manufactured by the Orion corp), I got out lucky break: a shot of my dual gauss cannon got the best of his hull and he was down considerably. Another shot and he was gone. The loss cargo was right to my left amidst his debris. The Valk Rune turns like a charm with these new controls. I spun around and heard the bang and jolt associated with in-flight cargo capture.

The other defenders were able to slow other Sercos and provide route plotting assistance until I safely brought back the cargo to Divinia. This Serco was only my second Serco hit. I've been staying away from this as much as I could. Surely they have wives and kids too? Who knows. Maybe they're manufactured too.

I had not seen the typical pod tele-porting flash so I assumed he was gone for good. But this intercepted message shows otherwise. It's clear I got a lucky shot. He probably knows that himself and his surprised must have been greater than mine.

Where this transmission is important relates to the fact that although they seem more organized, as a warring nation, they seem to have some of our same weaknesses: their military isn't as implicated as we previously thought so. So much even that this Serco is not even part of the Serco military itself. He's part for an unsanctioned force. Does this mean that Sercos might not be unsurpassable as a nation. We might have greater chances than we usually think so. If a unsanctioned force can be this organized, it shows we have to reorganize our own military forces. Perhaps merge different forces. But we have a chance,m if we organize ourselves. I'll leave it to the commanders to analyse and decide.

I'm just a grunt.

End of transmission.
