A friend & I are just starting Vendetta today. We're playing as UIT. Anyway from my prior experience games like this can be complicated so we're looking for a veteran to help us get started. We don't want money or items, just to be given advice. We've got teamspeak, ventrillo, and skype and would prefer someone who can also use some form of voice chat.

My character is named Matthew lolrpg and is in Dau L-10. My friend hasn't made his character yet.

Also I'm very cautious so if you think you can trick us into getting ganked you're wasting your time and mine.

Complicated? The tutorials here are pretty good. You know most of the game within 30 minutes.

This is not like EVE, before you assume it is (just in case).

No tricks necessary. One of us will determine your location, proceed to it, and blast you back into the station. Hilarity will ensue.

Even if it's simple it's very PvP orientated, correct? Thats what I've read, so I'd like to hang around some more experienced players to help avoid getting killed.

Also if anyone from the Federation of Independent Pilots is reading this, I'm interested in joining your guild.

Um, Federation of Independent Pilots? Is that a guild?

But yeah, Matt, combat in VO is more like Quake than EvE. Fight a couple of veterans once you get to combat level 4, so you can operate a decent ship with decent weaponry.

Twitch PvP combat is the single best reason to play Vendetta.

FIP was listed under player guilds and it said it had around a dozen members.

Looks to be a sort of ITAN/TGFT hybrid style that's sprung up recently, LeberMeat. You should probably be pirating them, but I suppose those XCs fly too fast for ya.

First off, welcome to the game Matt. Secondly, there are always some vets around ingame willing to help out newer members, despite what some of our harsh voiced community might say. (blows a kiss to the good doc :P)

The best piece of advice I can tell you is do not go to the grey territories until you reach at least combat lvl 4. While there is a chance someone will track you down even in nation space, going to the unchartered areas will guarantee it.

If you see me ingame, feel free to ask any questions, and yes I am a pirate but I am always willing to try to help out newer members, after all, your no fun to shoot if you dont know what your doing yet :)

You missed your last period, Mystic.

You misspelled "ne1" in your thread title. No-one's gonna help a newb they can't understand.

yeah people are more harsh here then in game for the most part, and you shouldn't worry about getting killed, it doesn't really hurt you and thats part of what makes it fun.

Matt, just some quick info:

-Avoid Sedina, there's pirates there.
-UIT is a trading style people, as Im sure you figured out, so if you really want the heavy combat orient, you'll need an Alt (Alternative Character that is).
-Guilds to avoid: CLM (Cargo Liberation Movement) and SYN (Syndicate) they are pirates.
-If you see their tags, my advice is to either fight hard, or run like crazy and hail an Anti-Pirate force immediately so they can vector an intercept.

-Anti-pirate Guilds: VPR (Multinational, channel 4357), SDF (Serco), SCAR (Serco), ITAN (Itani)
-Call on Anti-pirate guilds, usually via channel 4357, and they can come to help you if they're available and in easy travel range. The SDF and ITAN groups usually are around the UIT area and greyspace. VPR is all over, esp. in greyspace. SCAR usually stays around Serco space, but they do travel around too.

-Trading Guilds: TGFT (make friends with them, because they're good people).

You could always comply with our demands and pay ;)

Yeah hail an anti-pirate force, by the time they get to where you are, you are either... dead, half dead, or in some cases I have found, your a member of the pirate guild :)

When a trader typically "hails" an anti-pirate force (meaning VPR), you never get to see them, Mystic. Although, there would be know way for you to know that, would there? They safely avoid you altogether, so from your point of view, it must seem like the escort never occured at all. Delightful.

Funny that strat, cos I've killed many a trader that was under *vpr* protection, and the *vpr* couldn't do a thing about it till _after_ the said traders were dead.

If you wanna run your mouth, feel free to do so, but please, stick to the facts.
May 14, 2008 FatStrat85 link
As I implied, you're referring to about 1% of the traders we specifically provide protection to. From your point of view, that's 100%, because you are blissfully unaware of the vast majority. Proper escorts ensure that you never have the slightest contact with the trader. This is the case 99% of the time. Vipers don't usually receive reports that a trader is being pirated while the crime is in progress as Pyroman_Ace implied. Our service is primarily preventative. So you see, your ignorance isn't your fault. It is by design.

As far as "sticking to the facts", I (meaning VPR) am the only one aware of all the traders that are under my (meaning VPR again) protection. Therefore, between the two of us, I am the only one who could POSSIBLY have accurate facts here. Cheerio.

...and so modest too!

I'll try to bring this back on topic here. Matt, my advice would be to monitor channel 4357 in-game (by typing /join 4357 in a chat box) to receive updates on pirate activity. This will also allow you to see what Vipers are online so you can request escort if needed. Also, check out the [VPR]pedia wiki for info on avoiding and escaping pirates.

Always feel free to contact me (Strat) or any other available Vipers in-game for assistance of any kind. Good luck.
