Here you can post a Vow that you will not ever pay pirates. you can post your stories as well of non payment. These stories I hope will lead to strengthen more to just say no.

Replying to this thread is a Vow that you will never pay a pirate. Which will automatically get you added to the list =). Heck should get you automatically on other list people keep begging get added on as well ;0

We already have a thread for these people, but if you want to help us out by creating another source from which to add to our list, that's cool.

((Once again I will ask what is with all the personal attacks? I thought this is suppose to be RP? I have not once attack you as a person, only your game character.))

Some people have been playing this game a little too long, and no longer are able to separate game from life. So actually when game=life, on the part of a few, this is RPing for them.

Don't let it under your skin. U gotta be pretty tough skinned to make it in VO these days anyway.

Just request to be added to the list here: http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/7/22173?page=1

Maybe CrazySpence will teach you a few tricks if you hang out in Pelatus long enough. :)

RP or not, I'm genuinely shocked (maybe even mildly horrified, I haven't reflected at length on my reaction) that anyone who writes like zephar123 is out of grade school, much less married.

Now the one potential 'save' for my faith in the basic rationality and intelligence of mankind as a species is that English is not his first (or even third) language.

I am somewhat surprised at the number of pirates that will even accept payment without even checking the cargo. Even though I am not a pirate myself, by just hunting those that have instigated war with me, I have scored multiple xc of sedina chocolates, chaos swarms, ect...

A typical pirate's request for payment can easily pail in comparison to even a single score like that.

I think our local VO pirates have become far to lazy, and should learn to pilot ships that can both score the kill, and haul the loot. It is annoying to see someone piloting a corvus vult with laws trying to bill themselves as a "pirate".

And all you traders get a brain: Don't just refuse to pay pirates... Actively hire escorts. All you traders that don't pay pirates and don't pay escort and yet insist on trading in grey are just asking to go boom. I hope a pirate gets you. Cheapskates.

If we group up in one loud voice and refuse to support these terrorist there options will shrink.

Our current options are: hail & request payment, or kill. If you want to take the first option away, go head - as Lecter said, there's another thread just for that.

The fallacy you are committing is believing that our driving motive is money. However, as you will no doubt soon find out, credits are the least important factor in this game.

We are pirates for the sake of being pirates. Pirates are just one of many roles you can assume in this... MMORPG. Some of us choose to be traders, some of us mine, some of us prey on other players. Unless the developers intentionally block such a role (which they have no reason to), pirates are here to stay.

I took the time to spell this out because this issue pops up again here on a weekly basis, and apparently the only way I will ever be spared this spam is by pointing out your irrationality in the simplest possible terms.

Side note: I've been playing this game for three months, and I have only been a pirate for three days. However, the basic concept of piracy in this game was aware to me even before I created my first char. You may take my remarks as those of a former trader, who's only rant against pirates on this forum was them not hailing.

As a Viper, I of course never pay pirates. However, instead of encouraging people to "never pay", I'd rather encourage traders to take advantage of Viper escorts when available. They are free and effective. The Vipers have been quite active lately as well, so we should be available quite often.
Nov 11, 2009 Roda Slane link
A viper escort is often more effective than no escort. Strat himself can almost always kill or at least delay at least one pirate, until he runs out of flares. Probably best you be headed for a station by then. mileage may vary with other vpr. almost any collection of 4 or more vpr can deal with almost any single pirate.

But seriously, pay for a professional escort. Don't drive an xc in grey, even with an escort. Carry prox mines. Have your escort check the sector ahead of you and don't warp till he says to. carry prox mines. Be prepared to drop your load and return for it in a smaller faster ship, even if you have to make multiple trips. Many pirates fail to pilot a ship with any serious cargo capacity and your loses should be minimal. carry prox mines.

In general, a Viper escort is the most "professional escort" you can receive in this game. Every tagged Viper is specifically trained in thoroughly tested escort procedures and our success rate as a guild is phenomenal (yes, we keep track).

They are free and effective.

Half true.
Nov 11, 2009 Aticephyr link
I've never lost a ship I was escorting. Never.

You saying I charge for my services, Dr. Lecter? Cause then you'd be lying.
Nov 11, 2009 peytros link
im sorry i have to call bull shit atice i have killed moths you have been escorting in grey
Nov 11, 2009 FatStrat85 link
No, I imagine you haven't, peytros. Remember, seeing a Viper in the same sector as a trader doesn't mean they are necessarily being escorted. It actually often suggests the opposite.

Oh, not at all. I'm saying traders get exactly what they pay for from your lot.

Nothing.
Nov 11, 2009 FatStrat85 link
Honestly, you really wouldn't know, Lecter.
Nov 11, 2009 Dr. Lecter link
Gee, Strat, is that because I've never retained a [VPR] as a trader (I have, though obviously not as Lecter or Trakus), or because I've never killed a trader who was being escorted by a [VPR] (I have, both as Lecter and as Trakus, though some of that occured back before you were even in the game, much less a [VPR])? You've gotten halfway decent at throwing a flare, but you're still damp enough behind the ears to have something of an institutional memory problem.

You and your ilk had best stick to asserting what nobody will argue with: [VPR] are most useful because they will scout ahead and help a trader avoid ever being in the same sector as a pirate. Those they escort are usually safe because they are able to avoid ever encountering any opposition at all--but [VPR] are terrible at preventing a trader from dying once a pirate spots the trader and gives chase.

The best defense is to join CrazySpence's bargain pirate teasing school!

Learn how to:

-Mine pirates
-Send last second messages as you warp out informing them that they failed
-turn around and fire a rocket at the pirate then warp
-Use system chat to attract a pirate to tease
-Talk about your great trading adventures so the pirates know they have failed

Join TODAY! That is…if you somehow didn't just learn all of it from reading it. Which if is the case then this may take awhile.
