231st Nation War - 3 way team last man standing.

Today's Nation War will be Hosted by Spidey and partly sponsored by Itan Donations are accepted but not required.

Basic Rules
Only those who are on-time are allowed to participate.
Teller-Ulam mines, Lightning mines, Swarm Missles and pet bots are not allowed under ANY circumstance.
You may not start fighting until the host signals the start of the battle.
You may not return to the battle sector after you have left except to observe from a healthy distance in a bus.
No running from the asteroid field.
The last team standing wins.

ATTENTION NEW RULES REGARDING UNALIGNED PLAYERS: players will not be allowed joining a nation's team if said player has lower than 599 standing with that nation, players with triple KOS status will be the only ones allowed into the grey team if you have any faction standing with any of the three main nations you will have to join one of the national teams.

TL;DR - The grey team will ONLY be an option for those who DO NOT have standing with ANY of the three main factions. all other rules are unchanged.

NW start may be helb back to GMT 21:15 if people are late but if you're not in Sedina D-2 BEFORE GMT 21:15 the nation war will start without you.

If I ever host NW again (not that I want or expect to) I'm going to disallow Itani from joining their nation's team unless they are Serco KOS. ;)

Swarms and lmines weren't a problem when they weren't banned, but whatever.

Im an UIT pirate with UIT KOS. So according to spidey I cant be on neither gray or UIT teams, but I can join either Serco or Itani. That makes sense.

It was pretty subtle, I know, but ";)" in this context denoted humor and good will. Or maybe you are just seeing what you want to see. Spidey, having been absent in one way or another for many of the recent Nation Wars, could, I thought, derive some value from minor feedback on his rule changes.

But yea if you have standing with a nation it makes sense to fight with it. I did this because i didn't want to entirely remove the grey team but i still felt the nation war was way more fun with 3 sides. To be honest I do have a beef with a grey time flying nothing but valks every single nation war, If you're commited to being a real pierat then you shouldn't have standing with major factions ffs, since when do you see Somali pirates flying down to the states to buy destroyer warships and patriot missles...

I just don't think it makes sense to be a pirate in grey space mercilessly killing itani citizens and then going up to them and and buying their best military equipment to kill more poor defenseless itani citizens.

The main motivation for these rule changes are RP.
and this: I'm trying to make nation wars as awesome as they were a couple of years ago before peypey endlessly griefed TGFT to get them to add a grey team, because of all of the BS thats happened in the last year or so nation wars just don't have turnouts like they used to.

If I had my way the rules would be this: You have to fight for the nation you have most standing with no exceptions, but obviously that would just piss people off and no one would even bother showing up.

TL:DR if you want to fight as a pirate you better act like a pirate.

Last time i checked Corvus Orion and Tunguska all make decent PVP ships so if you're committed to the grey team tank your standing.

yeah except it wasn't until recently that pirates got a dedicated pirate ship which had to be nerfed for pvp to keep you guys from getting your panties in a twist. I wouldn't mind pirating in a prom it just happens that when i started playing you had to be kos with your nation to shoot your own nation. Now if we get pirate ships that you can only get by being dual or tri kos thats a different story.

also if you want to be a nationalist i think you should tank your corvus standing. Why would corvus sell you weapons and ships when you are just going to shoot outlaws. It's against there best interest to give a dedicated pirate ship to nations to use on them.

last time i checked itani uit and serco all made decent pvp ships so if you are a commited nationalist tank your corvus standing

So you're saying if you have KOS with a nation you should be fighting for it? Why doesn't it make sense that when you've got standing with a nation you should be fighting for it and not against it...

On top of that I would tank my corvus standing problem is Its impossible to tank Corvus standing.

so you are creating a situation where if one becomes a pirate they cannot dock at nation stations like pirate hunters or nationalists, They cannot buy the same ships as pirate hunters or nationalists, but pirate hunters and nationalists can dock at corvus and buy corvus weapons.

This could all be fixed with ships available at Corvus that cannot be sold to anybody with higher than dislike standing with the Big Three.

You just want people to play from your RP point of view. Anyone could come up with a thousand RP reasons to why pirates have proms or valks. Like Serco or Itan providing pirates with their best ships to attack citizens of the opposing faction in grey.

Btw the US has been secretly funding irregular guerrillas and combatants, which could be considered PIRATES, for a long time now (eg: Contras).

My recommendation if you insist on considering the actual faction level: Ignore all faction statuses except for that of your home-nation. If you have a below-neutral standing with your nation, you are grey. If you have a positive standing with your nation, you are on your nation's team. Other nation's standings are irrelevant.

(Though I would prefer the old way of just saying "I am grey. Deal with it.")

Oh, and you questioned why the Itani would still sell pirates valks? Because what happens in greyspace stays in greyspace. That is the whole point of it! The Itani nation does not know we are pirates. Sure, there may be rumors, but those are only words. On the other hand, we have done great deeds to support their nation - killing their bot infestations, hauling their supplies, protecting their convoys. So it's a bunch of gossip vs. the very real evidence that we are upstanding fellows.

Of course, if somebody does their piracy within Itani space, it's a whole 'nother ball of twine.

Corvus does only care about its wallet, it has been told to us (pcc) that the corvus are not to be used as blatant rats

Also how about no grey team at all. that's much better. it is nation war not "nation war + outlaws"

Outlaws aren't a nation they are just criminals.
