Greetings to all - my name is Typherion Septis and I am the commander of the Red Army... or rather, I will be the commander of the Red Army, a Serco nationalist guild, which will be forming shortly. In light of the immanent formation of the Red Army, it is my duty to introduce to you our principals and position.

The Red Army is the only Serco nationalist guild devoted to winning Deneb, killing the Hive, protecting our xith cargo, and capturing known criminals and enemies of the state. The Red Army is actively enlisting new recruits and all Serco and citizens of the United Independent Territories in good standing are invited to enlist in the Serco military and join the ranks of the Red Army.

The Red Army recognizes the need for interstellar cooperation and as such regards peaceful trade organizations such as Orbital Rock Extraction [ORE] and the Guild of Free Traders [TGFT], humanitarian relief groups such as Emergency Mechanical Services [EMS], and interstellar law enforcement agencies such as the Vipers [VPR] as nonhostiles: Itani pilots serving in the aforementioned groups, agencies, and organizations will be treated respectfully and will not be harassed – neither in Serco space, nor anywhere else.

The Red Army values strength and honor above all else. Strength is found in open combat – the Red Army does not conduct surprise attacks, deceive its allies, take part in piracy, kill easy targets for sport, promote terrorism, or engage in nonconsensual Player vs Player warfare (also known as griefing.) The Red Army does not grief low level pilots or harass easy targets for sport – there is no honor in the easy kill.

Any member of the Serco Empire or citizen of the United Independent Territories who has engaged in piracy and who wishes to join the Red Army may be permitted to join but must first announce to the Vipers (http://www.viperguild.com/) and to the Vendetta Online community (http://www.vendettaonline.com/x/msgboard/14) that his or her days of piracy are over. Any Red Army member who returns to piracy will be expelled and blacklisted from the Red Army forever and his or her actions will be made known to the Vendetta Online universe.

The Red Army does not engage in piracy except to capture purified xithricite ore as part of the Capture the Cargo contest and the ongoing campaign against the Itani Nation. The Red Army does not sell its services to pirates and privateers – the only master we serve is the Serco Empire.

The Red Army primarily communicates on the ingame communication channel /520. Channel 520 is chosen in remembrance of the May 20 (5/20) Victory Day over the Itani on Terra II in the year 2853 AD. You may reach me through channel /520 on most Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, but I may also be available on other days of the week.

I invite you to learn more about the Red Army and its goals at the Red Army Bulletin: http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/redarmybulletin/

Strength and Honor, -Typherion Septis

Sounds like another carebear guild. How long have you been playing anyhow?

I have recently graduated from the academy and taken my place in the Serco fleet - I am a newly commissioned officer and am of modest station. My greatest desire has always been to serve the glorious Serco Empire and specifically to serve in the Big Red One [ONE], but their recruiting officers seem to be so busy elsewhere that I can't locate them. Even in my short period of service to the Empire I've seen disaffected young Serco abandon their homeland to take up a life of piracy, or else join non-combative organizations who do not support the conflict in Deneb. It is true that I am a young and relatively inexperienced leader, but I'm confident that as many who criticize my abilities will also enlist and share the clarion call of "Strength in numbers! Strength and honor!"

"nonconsensual Player vs Player warfare (also known as griefing.)"

No it is not. Griefing is attacking somebody with no other motivation besides causing that character's player grief, motivated primarily by out-of-game reasons, e.g. if I hunted you down in-game and killed you because I didn't like your use of "griefing" here on the forums, that would be griefing. There are a host of reasons to engage in nonconsentual combat that have nothing to do with causing grief. Piracy, revenge, hired assassination, killing sworn enemies, competing for the same territory, etc.

The misuse of the term "griefing" is promoted by people who would like to portray those who engage in unconsentual combat as players who are breaking the game, as opposed to players who are playing characters that do things that other players' characters do not like. In other words, they are trying to make it seem that they are playing the game wrongly, that the player is doing wrong outside the game and should go away. In reality however, unconsentual combat is an intentional part of the game, and people who do it are simply playing a role in the game.

Do not succumb to their propaganda. Some correct terms to describe "unconsentual pvp" include "murder", "villainy", "terrorism", etc. Reserve "griefing" for describing actual griefing.

Greetings, Pizzasgood; thank-you for your contribution - I invite you to visit the Red Army Bulletin and review the Enlistment Manual listed in the Files section where you will find a more detailed description of the Red Army's policy's regarding Player-vs-Player combat, rules of engagement, Readiness Conditions, and honorable combat. Strength and honor!

Serco do not waste their valuable trigger time writing fancy rule books. Serco slaughter their enemies - whenever, whereever, and however they find them.

your combat rules of engagement put you at an immediate disadvantage and you are clearly just going to become another member of the grey space coalition of ninnies.

Grow some balls.

True Serco recognizes no need for interstellar cooperation with any group other than other Serco. Given time, you may understand this, but... then again perhaps not. You speak like a UIT trader, and claim to be a nationalist.

If you ever become a true Serco, then best of luck.
May 03, 2011 jamesbuhls link
The UIT traders as a species may be genetically inferior to the perfect Serco bio-mechanical body, but their support has proven useful in the past specifically in AD 4346 when they betrayed the secrets of the Itani Nation's gravitic pulse technology and xi-rite armor plating to us. As a whole the Union of Independent Territories lacks the cultural and political unity to accomplish great ends, but it would be short-sighted to neglect the value of shared intelligence and a large community of skilled pilots with little better to do than watch their reflection in ice 'roids. In the Red Army, citizens of the UIT may return to the glorious culture they left behind in AD 3692. Historians will debate the reasons for Serco hostility to the Neutrals, but the galaxy has come a long way in the last 800 years. Some Serco still remember the valuable innovations made by the Neutrals, and some citizens of the UIT still remember their proud heritage. The Red Army welcomes those traders home and extends a hand of friendship to any prepared to take up the red banner and claim Deneb in the name of Serco. The Serco Empire has historically done much business with the UIT and will continue to do so. Strength and Honor,

Funny. Well, bets of lucks with the guild. I hope it fares better than the previous 19000 nationalist guilds that sadly are not here anymore. Odds are that it will be a rerun of the same...

The ONE commander is on nightly Typherion, however I'm sure ONE will not attempt to hinder you, and should things not work out, will welcome your serco members (unfortunately the UIT blokes are on their own).

Typherion Septis,

Do we need another [ONE] clone?

Heh, on the other hand, ONE is old, it has awful background and stupid American army guildname.. so.. try, try.. maybe you'll succeed.

One of the best Serco guilds I ever saw on my age is [SAS], Serco Assault Squad. But it's disbanded.

Btw, ask vets, they'll tell you the story about pro-Serco-guild [SCAR].

Anyways I expect you to pay or die.

Yours sincerelly,
Pirren

Pirren - glorious combat is worth far more than money. Why there are only a few hundred (more? less?) pirates, criminals, and militant Itani available to offer combat, whereas credits seem to be in infinite supply, manufactured endlessly by the governments of the nations. Die I may (and die I have), but not one red cent will go to the hands of pirates, criminals, and children of the great satan Itan. Even just yesterday I engaged ARF_01 in mortal combat; the battle was glorious and though I lost I learned valuable lessons I intend to apply in the next engagement. I'll see you in Deneb, and if not there we'll certainly cross paths while doing business in Grey or when representing our cultures at the weekly gentlemen's dueling contest Nation War.

Seragyn, regarding your offer to join ONE I found an invitation difficult to come by. I worked tirelessly hunting the hive, serving in Deneb, and aiding the Serco Empire in a variety of menial tasks to raise my license levels to your group's standards, and also submitted two applications to join your unit through your recruiting office (guild website) which up until I decided to form the Red Army went unanswered by your commander. Not counting my own experience, I've heard stories from more than two other young Serco pilots who tried to join ONE but like me received no response and were unable to find a recruiting officer over the public comm channels. One of these young soldiers has joined the Red Army, but unfortunately the other I discovered has left for the Phoenix Alliance and thus deprived the Serco military of another qualified pilot. How many young Serco have abandoned their home in favor of piracy, criminal enterprise, and membership in neutral organizations who refuse to take sides in our holy war against the blue devils?

I have the utmost respect for ONE and admire your service to the Serco Empire - I hope that I can one day rise to the same stature - and if my efforts to form the Red Army prove fruitless I will of course submit another application and ask to be considered for membership.

Strength and Honor, Glory to Serco

Again, there was a slight miscommunication regarding the guild website (I've addressed your post there) where email notifications of new messages were not being sent. I was recently made aware of your efforts (recently as in the night before this thread was created). Again, we wish you the best of luck. Our recruitment officers are generally on between 10pm-2am eastern.
May 04, 2011 jamesbuhls link
(speaking out of character) That must be why we can't connect: the family starts winding down for bed at 10pm so I would have never met you. Maybe we can connect this weekend? We'll see what happens.
