Nation War

This was my second and eventful week hosting NW, Dentec Collector started attacking people waiting for NW in the sector and we had to move locations hoping that everyone would jump without him following too close. Crusader damn near backrolled himself to victory, and that was all with a large amount of people not showing up because apparently GMT time does not go back and forth with daylight savings time.

In the end the Serco won this week claiming the 35 million prize.
This weeks prize was supplemented by a number of donations, thanks to CBSM, EMS, Itan, ORE, Rin Ganborro, and Monk of Eo for your donations.

So a few things came out of this week:
1. We will start allowing a grey team every other week. So next week will be a 4 way battle, week after a regular 3 so on and so forth.
2. Dentec Collector is banned from future NW events.
3. From now on the starting location will be random, it will stay in Sedina, but will be in random sectors. While groups are forming I will msg each group leader the location and they will need to relay it to their groups.

Basic Rules
Only those who are on-time are allowed to participate.
Participants must be on their nation's team regardless of fraction standing unless a grey team is allowed that week in which you may fight for grey if you are not a nationalist of your nation.
Group leaders will receive a msg from the host letting them know what sector NW is in, and will have to convey it to their groups.
You may not start fighting until the host signals the start of the battle - this includes the 15 minute period prior to the planned starting time.
You may not return to the battle sector after you have left except to observe from a healthy distance in a bus.
No running from the asteroid field.
The last team standing wins.

So, just because Pirren was crying like a little bitch you're gonna fuck up NW again? NW is supposed to be between NATIONS. I finally thought NW was going to start going back to being cool again but it seems its going to slowly start going back to shit. Next week if people cry enough will you start only allowing certain ships? What about if Pirren crys about how Serco or Grey team (whichever he's on) doesn't have enough people(like he was doing today) so you need to even out teams, will you do that too?

There are a few answers to that:

1. If the fraction system was more in line with how a lot of players actually play the game, it would already be a 4 way battle between the nations and the grey fractions.
2. By alternating weeks with a grey team it will help to mix up the fighting a little which will hopefully keep NW "fresh" instead of the same thing every week, and keep the pirates happy enough not to decide to revolt one week and ruin it for everyone.
3. I planned on making changes as needed/as I became more comfortable being the host.

At the core this is the only major change I want to make to NW, if I start trying other stuff more then likely it will be a seperate event alltogether. Like a NW based on MK1 ships or busses or a giant 2 way battle between Serco/Grey & Itani/UIT or maybe Pirates/Rest of the Verse. I'm more then open to ideas. I want to start doing more events but need funds for prizes, 10 mil a week isnt hard to come up with... but if I did 2-3 events a week now were talking 20-30 mil... and thats a lot of time.

For a long time Nation War was run only with available nations. Saying that a Grey team should be allowed because the game is messed up and doesn't fit your needs isn't really an arguement. I was thinking about starting to support Nation War again but if you are going to "keep the pirates happy" then I will probably end up boycotting it outright.

I do hope you get alot of pirates to come to the NW like FAMY, THC, CHRN, and whoever else is constantly spamming 100 with "yarr."If they decided to show up then you will have a huge turnout of pirates and a very large grey team that can force its newbs to be the other teams and pretend they are traders and miners cause obviously Nation War isn't about "nations" but about who you decide to play with.

I suggest that you just go ahead and implement these into Nation War as you please because it really doesn't matter what all the people who have stated their objection to grey team say.

War with only buses or mk1 ships...I remember bus wars were always good fun.

Why wouldn't there be a Pirates vs rest of the universe War Event? or Serco & Pirates vs Itani & UIT or the other way around?

This would definitely not be boring and should add some variety to the VO combat events.

P.S. FYI unaligned players have capital in Odia, same as UIT in Dau, Serco in Sol-II, Itani in Itan. Devs already created 4 nation 'verse. Open ye eyes smurf, chat color means nothing nowadays.

I agree with bojan and arf that other events would be fun and all. However, I also agree with ARF that those events would not be a nation war. I mean if you are gonna have grey then you need to have a trader/miner team, a hive team, bring back the rainbow team, and other RP related teams. Cause thats all grey team is.

As for what pirren said: That is all incorrect! Here are 10 valid reasons why:

1. UIT is a nation
2. Grey is not a nation
3. Odia M-14 is a Corvus station not Grey Home Base
4. Chat color shows what nation you are aligned with
5. Devs have not created a 4 nation verse, hence the problem with having a 4th nation
6. Actually the three nations have a couple capitol systems

I do at least empathize with Pirren's position. He's spent a lot of time fighting for gray in Rin's Nation Wars, with other people he's used to fighting along-side. Calling him a whiner because he is making a reasonable request is pretty lame. He is definitely a capable fighter and practically won the last Nation War single-handedly.

I will, however, continue fighting for the Serco Dominion.

I do many things, but I don't lie about my friends unless there is a good joke involved. If I say there was whining, then there was whining (not necessarily within this thread). I'm not saying I don't understand where he was coming from, because I do. I prefer there to be a grey team as well - obviously, since I kept it alive for a good nine months. I also see where the anti-grey people are coming from. To them it seems an artificial distinction. To us, the faction system is the thing that is artificial. Whatever. Either way, there will be explosions and I will be happy. The point of playing a game is to have fun.
