If any Guild Commander/Council member has any information they wish pass on regarding their Guild then I would be happy to update the content.

While I have assumed some guild goals based on name or a single nation membership (apologies if incorrect), for others where I could not find a clear or even an inferred statement of purpose then I have left the goal as to be confirmed (TBC).

Finally I suspect that some guilds are Developer test entries, player experiments or are guilds that have become completely non-active, if you have any information regarding these please also let me know.

Thanks for the effort, but some of the guild "goals" you listed above are wrong. CLM is a pirate guild, along with BLAK. I'll let someone else straighten out the rest of um for you.

Isn't BLAK more of a parody of the old BLAK that was actually a pirate guild? The current one claims to be a trade guild, and the last time I saw one of its members, he claimed he wasn't a pirate and sought to avoid combat while flying a fighter.

I assure you, as leader of BLAK, that it is, and always has been, a guild dedicated solely to trade.
Obviously, we can't prevent our members from flying "fighter" ships and avoiding combat, but it is frowned upon. Trading is what we're all about.

BLAK is so focused on trade that they trade other trader's trade products and trade accessories.

Ahem. La Familia guild purpose is "Organised Crime" or "Mafia" not "Pirate". Why does nobody seem to get that,

Genka are you certain that BLAK is a trading guild, or would you say that BLAK would be better described as Black Market Traders or Smugglers rather than Traders or Pirates? It's your call Genka I'm happy to leave this as Trade.

Yes I would agree with you TheRedSpy, I've seen chat on 100 which is suggestive of FAMY being involved in protection racketeering, so I’ll assume that FAMY are likely engaged in activities beyond the standard grey-space muggings. Also the size and success of FAMY does suggest a more ordered pirate guild, Organised Crime it is then.

As an unaffiliated new player to the game, I initially gathered this info to support my own guild selection, however having spoken to some more experienced players. It would seem that a now inactive player once had an automated script collecting, collating and regularly making available this type of Guild Information.

If this continues to be useful to players, perhaps I could look into writing something of my own to meet the demand, unless of course someone still have the original code kicking around and would be willing to pass it on, for me to maintain.

Obviously further comments welcome, would be very pleased to hear from some of the TBC, undefined guilds, listed below.

are tristen guilds. I guess you can either make a specific activity type "tristen" or you can class them as "troll guilds" or inactive (they are all alts of tristens various accounts)

Historically ACE has been a pvp/b8 guild but their most recent activities have been geared towards manufacturing. They also have a heavy european influence operating at peak european hours and with many members that speak italian as a first language

It's probably more accurate to describe :) and BULB as PVP-oriented than pirate, though that PVP is not necessarily consensual. Pirates want to rob. Griefers want to make people miserable. These guys just like explosions.

MUIE is an inactive mercenary guild; their goal is to fight in exchange for payment. I've never known them to engage in piracy.

VPR might be better described as "anti-pirate" than "pirate hunting". Protecting traders and other innocents from piracy is a higher priority for us than catching and destroying pirates, though we certainly enjoy the latter.

Yes, people have this kind of information scripted, but scripts tend to overlook the guilds that have not been active for years and years, and trust me, the lists are a LOT longer, and contain useless information about guilds that have not been active for years.

If you feel like contributing though, maybe your thoughts on guilds/etc could be better posted on http://vo-wiki.com - it's a community run wiki, and defo needs more people like you to keep it up to date.

The Coalition of Itan isn't necessarily a War guild. "Nationalist" would be more appropriate here. ONE would also fall into this category.

Thanks everyone, plenty of useful info for a new player to the game. Good point about timing I had not previously factored in location, either European or US guilds; as a new player it would be handy to know which guild fits your personal gaming timetable. As well as I guess when it’s safest to make that important trade run!

So with your feedback, I’ve now made some more amendments to my original post, details below, also slightly adjusting the order based on guild activity.

A lot of this game does not appear in any manual it seems to be a construct of the games community. As I learn more about the game and meet and chat with more players I’m sure I’ll be contributing to the wiki as suggested.

This list is only my interpretation of the guild community from the perspective of a new player; genuinely my game-time will probably reach 48 hours by end of play tonight. So I’ve been as unbiased as I possibly can, I’m still not a member of a guild although I have applied to join one now.

This list is not compiled as a guide for veteran players, I wrote this for myself and any other new members that were looking to join a Guild, so once we figured out how we want to play we can pick a suitable Guild. If Genka wants trade players to join his guild, I'm happy to support that objective.
