I am good at debates, not fighting...

SKV is not choosing their targets out of stupidity. It's basically an ITAN-without-rules-or-honor guild. So people join it to go around killing non-ITAN members.

"Seems like SKV is one of those national extremist guild that is "too stupid to use anything more complicated than faction standing" to determine their KOS list."

Yeah, considering the enemies of the nation you fight for to be your enemies sure is stupid!
Jul 27, 2015 Wing0 link
That's where you are wrong.
In VO, a hate rating doesn't necessarily mean you are one of the "enemies of the nation".
Jul 27, 2015 Pizzasgood link
But it does the overwhelming majority of the time. Since SKV is a small guild in a video game, not real-life military or law enforcement, and since death in VO is not some permanent tragedy, it doesn't make sense to encode exceptions into the rules of engagement for every minor possibility. It's more efficient to simply trust the individual members to exercise their own judgement and spare people who obviously aren't the enemy -- and if mistakes occasionally happen, it's not a big deal.

Plus there's the player-level observation that what they're doing is actually extremely rational. They play the game to team up with some others and then fight people. The game provides a simple way to divide people up into teams. They aren't terribly concerned about hurting people's feelings if people feel that they were killed inappropriately. Given all this, what they're doing is the most efficient means of achieving their objective. Efficiency is not stupidity.

So SKV members log on to gank? Interesting thought.

I've noticed an ongoing trend in PvP video games where people cry, disapprove, or just pretty much put a negative connotation on 'ganking'. I mean who would've thunk that players would kill players in a Player vs. Player game.

Incorrect Thor, SKV members log in to play a twitch combat game.

As in any multiplayer pvp game where group combat exists - there are situations when we fight in groups.
When one side or one group have more players the the other, then they have a tactical advantage.
Your opponents then have a choice to either stay and fight or retreat.

Some TGFT are notorious for doing both - mainly Sieger who usually fights in your group but leaves his comrades to die when he gets damaged to 30% health and runs to repair instead of helping you fight to the end.

Pizzasgood,
yes, SKV is rational from a pirate's point of view, but not a team player. SKV is like a Pirate Guild working for Itani faction, just like Privateering(Government hired Pirates).

Inevitable,
SKV plays VO as a "Free For All" PVP Game, but VO supposed to be a Faction based PVP game. Dosen't justify SKV's betrayal of Itani players, because hate rating is not an valid excuse, and I don't see any other excuses.

bojansplash,
SKV is worse. Being a Itani guild, they have Itani players on their Kill list, just because of faction rating.

I see we have another case of 'the moron is strong with this one' in your case Wing0.

1. SKV is a well trained, coordinated and highly efficient military guild protecting the Itani nation interests. Fighting for the nations cause is not pirating or privateering - it's a solemn duty for any patriot.

2. Itani players who work against their nation are traitors and SKV eliminates them with extreme prejudice.
Itani nationals in TGFT ranks are traitors of Itani nation and are treated as such. Besides, SKV and TGFT are at war and all pilots wearing TGFT tag are considered enemy combatants.

3. SKV attack and destroy targets according to our rules of engagement which are publicly available.

To make it clear once again since you are a bit 'slow': If Itani pilots have hate or KOS standing with Itani nation or they are wearing a TGFT tag, they are considered enemies of our nation and SKV.
Jul 28, 2015 Wing0 link
Actually, it seems you are a bit slow.
As I have previously said, Faction rating does not determine enmity.

1) kill bots in Serco space for a few weapon levels and your Itani faction rating will change to Hate.
2) Do a few missions from Serco stations and your Itani faction rating will change to Hate.

...just picking up a few missions and/or killing bots in Serco space doesn't mean the player is an enemy.

"SKV rules of engagement are very simple:
Serco, UIT & Itani pilots with KOS or Hate Itani standing"
---"too stupid to use anything more complicated than faction standing"

Jul 28, 2015 bojansplash link
Ok I am dealing with a master moron here.

If as an Itani pilot you are doing trade mission for Serco nation or killing hive bots in Serco space - you are helping Serco nation.
This constitutes a very good reason for you to be declared a traitor and killed by your own nation.

C'mon, even a brick wall would understand that.
Jul 28, 2015 Inevitable link
Wingo If you have a low faction standing with a nation you should be prepared for that nation's nationalists to destroy you. That's just common sense
Jul 28, 2015 Wing0 link
@bojansplash
finally we arrived at the root of this SKV issue.

so tell me...
1) How does killing Transport & collector bots in Serco space help the Serco ? Rather, I would be taking their kills.
2) How does doing missions / trading in Serco space help the Serco ? Rather, I would be heating their asteroids through mining(for mission), and lowering their trade profit through my trading.
Jul 28, 2015 Faille Corvelle link
Trading/mining in Serco space promotes the Serco economy. Killing hive bots in Serco space makes travel safer, thus helping the Serco nation. Ditto for the same actions in Itani space.

I am a dedicated neutral. As a result I cannot bot in either Serco or Itani space, as that would be helping said nation. I cannot take trade or escort missions etc for the same reasons.

The problem here is Wing0 is attempting to impose his definition of what standing means despite what it ACTUALLY means. Standing is a representation of your relationship with a given faction. If they hate you, you are an enemy. If they like you, you are an ally. It's really not rocket surgery.
Jul 29, 2015 Wing0 link
There is something in-Game called "Serco economy" ? Where can we find Information on this ?
Even better, where can we find statistics on "Itani Economy" or "UIT Economy" ?

Transport & collector bots pose a danger to Serco players? How ?
Jul 29, 2015 RoboticMechanicalJeb link
Wing, Hive Bots in Serco space is FUCKING DANGEROUS to Serco newbs in an Ion Storm using a Centurion or a Bus.
Killing the Bots in Serco space provide safer travels to Serco Newbs, therefore helping the Serco players fly safely (My language: More threats against the Itani Nation)

and I thought this Thread was already Dead?

If Itani pilots have hate or KOS standing with Itani nation or they are wearing a TGFT tag, they are considered enemies of our nation and SKV.

should read:

If Itani pilots have hate or KOS standing with Itani nation, if they are wearing a TGFT tag, or if SKV is bored and just wants to shoot someone, they are considered enemies of our nation and SKV.

ftfy

SKV: Shoot first and dress it up as nationalism later.
